Apr 19, 2021 Yes, in recent years it hasn't even been in the Top 10 outside of the US. Even in the US, his album didn't make the Top 20 in 2020 (MTBMB was only #21). The last time he was a huge artist was during the MMLP2 era 2013-2014 and a little during the Revival era 2017-2018 (but it was literally a couple of months of promo). If he hadn't released the song Venom (for the film) and the song with Juice WRLD after the Revival era, then most people wouldn't even know that he was still releasing music. These 2 songs are proof for many non-rap fans that he is still releasing something after 2017. Just remember how many of Revival advertised posters were in Europe in 2017. This was Eminem's last album to have a promo and was known to a lot of people.
Apr 19, 2021 Lack of huge hits has made him fade away for the general public for the last couple years. I've been saying it but people get mad at me lmao. It's sad though, but at least he still drops music. Hope Rih will give him another number 1 one day.
Apr 19, 2021 Swear you have this conversation once a week & it gets refuted each time... Kamikaze sold 2.5 million in China in 4 months alone, halfway across the planet, in a non-native English speaking country that has no Western ideals.
Apr 19, 2021 He has fans worldwide, which is cool, but I think we're talking about his popularity in general, not just to his fans or people into rap. We all know his fans stream/buy his s---.
Apr 19, 2021 Eminem doesn't need another crossover song. Lmao. Eminem's a legend already and he doesn't need a megahit to secure his legacy at all. He's not that type of rapper. Someone like Nelly, Ludacris, or T.I. would need that more so than Eminem.
Apr 19, 2021 Eminem picked the wrong first singles from the last three (four if you include Side B ) albums. Previously, he always chose the powerful first single that was a hit on the radio, but now he doesn't care about the sale and people don't care about listening to his new album. He also has a lot of s-----y quality music videos (except for Framed, Godzilla and Tone Deaf).
Apr 19, 2021 River could have worked as a first single. Ed was big back then and it was catchy. Darkness video was dope btw, and Gnat.
Apr 19, 2021 Eminem is one of the main rappers that people not into rap know about just like Snoop Dogg lmao. Which rappers are more known worldwide than Eminem in 2021? And don't say Drake cause that's the wrong answer.
Apr 19, 2021 Em is known for the old stuff though. And Drake lately for the hits. I think rap isn't that big outside of the US anymore tbh. New generation of rappers doesn't have the same appeal.
Apr 19, 2021 I've been hearing Mood on the radio, and some Lil Nas X, but that's pretty much it. The popish stuff mostly.
Apr 19, 2021 Didn't say he needs it. But it would be fun and would make him popular again. Who doesn't wanna see their fav on top of the charts?
Apr 19, 2021 Nah, just on Instagram/Tik Tok and people pretty much use the same songs americans use. I only liked some tracks, but he seemed to be a cool dude.
Apr 19, 2021 Tbh, I'm kinda mind-blown at how Revival and Kamikaze appeared to have received an almost reverse reception outside the USA. In the USA, Revival did poor numbers(for his standards), was trashed to oblivion, and Em was considered "over" until he dropped Kamikaze. When Kamikaze dropped, he was getting talked about everywhere from the MGK beef, dissing a whole bunch of people, name dropping Diddy for the Pac conspiracy, rapping with Joyner who also caught a buzz battling Tory Lanez,, calling Tyler a fa----, having a long interview with Sway, etc. It felt like a big moment in time for Em before he became "under the radar" again whereas Revival literally came and went here and a lot of people act like it doesn't exist in his catalog.
Apr 19, 2021 I think the whole Revival thing in the US was him going at Trump. Guess it somehow made him lose fans over there. The rest of the world bought it like every other Em album regardles of the quality. Kamikaze had small beefs. MGK and Tyler aren't really relevant outside of the US. Specially pre punk MGK.
