Nov 7, 2018 Obviously, we all want more new music. As much as we can get. But recently, it feels like we're getting so (maybe too) much. Countless of talented rappers, new or old, famous or not really known -yet- drop new mixtapes, albums and loosies on a daily basis. I think there are hardly days when there isn't a new song from either future or thug for example. But with so much new music, do we have time to fully appreciate it and let it sink in? To me it feels like when I have listened to an album once I find myself moving on to the next one since there's so d--- much I want to check out. Especially albums I didn't feel that much at first are gonna be forgotten even if maybe, after more listens, they would have grown on me. It also shows in discussion. Not saying its the main reason that album threads aren't popping that much but we barely have or take time to let an album sink in because there are like 3 albums and 20 songs on that same day that dropped and we wanna check out. Do move on too quickly? I'm speaking for myself here when I say I probably do because of the reason I stated. How about you?
Nov 7, 2018 Curious about @Sav Stanfield @Big Cuntry @Squiddie Redd thoughts since u and others really seem to check out a lot, more than I do
Nov 7, 2018 its great being able to listen to something new every day but yeah, a lot of it goes out of rotation pretty quickly just because there's so much new stuff to check out. i'm not complaining though.
Nov 7, 2018 If this thread was made a couple of years ago I'd say it's a blessing, but nowadays I work a lot and I ain't got timeeeeee (for these b------s #TylerTheCreator) for so much music. I wish I had more hours for myself just to bump new albums.
Nov 7, 2018 It's a blessing. An embarrassment of riches. Keep it flowing I say. 2018 has served us well and there's still more to come.
Nov 7, 2018 100% a blessing. It's not a requirement to keep up, so you can still choose to focus on single projects if you want, but it also feeds the hypebeasts so it's a win/win imo
Nov 7, 2018 Of course it’s a blessing If there’s ever a dry patch in terms of musical releases then you can just catch up on the projects you missed out on/didn’t pay much attention to at the time of release Obviously much better than not having a lot of new music to choose from lol
Nov 7, 2018 It has it's pros and cons. More music, easier access to music. But now there are tons of ok and mediocre artists making music as opposed to fewer in the past. Also, I used to enjoy going to record stores and browsing. There was a connection there that's lost in the digital era. I don't feel as attached to digital files or streams. Subsequently, I care less about the music I'm listening to and with more music being churned out, that makes me care even less. I think it also has an effect on the artists themselves. They know that people want content and rather than take their time with a project, they just release whatever they had in the vault. Songs that used to be filler or mixtape throwaways are now regular tracks on an album.
Nov 7, 2018 I must agree. Luckily we have guys like Danny Brown who may take their time, but when he releases, I feel its a big thing, and for now, all his albums have been nothing but great
Nov 7, 2018 You don't have to listen to it all. You can if you want. Seems like a net positive to me.
Nov 7, 2018 Yeah u can just listen to an album a month or 2 after release. I have often waited to listen to certain albums around christmas/new year as it is usually quiet around then.
Nov 7, 2018 A curse, cause now who knows when will ever get new music, especially from half these artists.
