Dec 29, 2014 The tone? lmao what tone? Eminem just sampled a song from her and become to be one of the best Hip Hop hooks of all time for the way he fit that hook on the context of the song. Also the Black/White call is worthless.
Dec 29, 2014 that's not what he's saying He's just talking about hip hop and its history. This genre belonged to the djs and came up on hooks like this: I don't agree that R&B hooks disqualify you from the greatest hiphop song of all time conversation but I see where he's coming from
Dec 29, 2014 The greatest hip hop hook of all time would be a hip hop hook, not an R&B hook is all @Term-X is saying.
Dec 29, 2014 Starting to see why FriedSchizophrenic has a reputation with some members on here, since Hasman has cleared things up a bit, I'll leave this one.
Dec 29, 2014 The concept of a "greatest" rap song is silly, you can't compare Stan to Power to Skyfall to Birthday Song etc etc it might be the best Storytime Rap Song with Pop Hook but to say it's the best rap song...
Dec 29, 2014 In that case i agree. Worthless comment, we are discussing "Stan", don't need comments about my reputation. Explain yourself better next time you are talking about a song like Stan, because the terms you use to describe Dido where offensive and stupid.
Dec 29, 2014 Actually hes just using your post as an excuse...that wasnt what he was saying at all But ok
Dec 29, 2014 A major point of the song is the hook, which isn't even rap Not taking away from the song but that alone immediately disqualifies it as best rap song for me.
Dec 29, 2014 Saying something is the greatest song of all time is obviously going to create controversy. Stan is objectively in the conversation for best hip hop song, what someone says is number 1 is subjective.
Dec 29, 2014 lmao at putting restrictions which you consider a rap song...having a hook like the one in stan disqualify it? holy f--- at the amount of rap songs you dont consider rap based on your criteria...so i assume kanye have like only like 3 rap songs based on your restrictions ?
Dec 29, 2014 I think this is my favorite song of all time: I'm not saying it's the best of all time, but I don't feel like I'm qualified to make an argument for any song given the fact that (for the most part) I've only thoroughly listened to albums that came out after 1996. With that I'ma retire from this thread
Dec 29, 2014 Not really, he also metioned that Dido belongs in the middle-class and not in the working class, not limiting it to a genre thing I think. I wouldn't agree with this @Term-X, good music is good music, and it's not like many rappers belong in the working class anyway. They're either rich as f---, or sell drugs to survive (ok this is a stereotype that I use for emphasis mainly). Pac for example was an activist and, from what I know, tried to do things for the black community, but is he in the middle or in the working class? Deep topic that might get lost in translation, but yeah, just adding my 2 cents. On topic, Stan is among the best probably, choosing one song is impossible though. We could make a thread and choose some as S80, but it's probably too early and we don't have many members yet imo
Dec 29, 2014 its top 10 maybe even 5 for sure but its not the best. i would pick stan over this any day
Dec 29, 2014 That's fine, but you say "Not a chance in h---" like it was a bad song lmao And is not even my favorite Em track. My favorite Em track is Hailie's Song.
