Nov 15, 2017 http://www.rollingstone.com/music/f...s-on-new-singer-scott-weilands-legacy-w511468 One of the greatest rock bands of all time announced their new singer during an interview with Sirius Xm last night. Jeff Gutt, Michigan native who appeared on X Factor twice and was the runner up the second time around, has some big shoes to fill. Scott Weiland (GOAT Frontman) has passed on as well as Chester Bennington, but after hearing the band play a few songs live including Down and Coma, I have high hopes for STP. Posted a link to the rolling stone article, where you can also listen to the first single "Meadow" off the yet untitled 7th album coming spring 2018
Nov 15, 2017 Hard pass Hate when bands do this Still refuse to listen to Alice in Chains with the new singer
Nov 15, 2017 Possibly the worst outlook a fan of such amazing bands could have. Black Gives Way to Blue is almost as good as anything the band did with Staley, seriously. High Rise with Chester Bennington was a 5 song EP but all 5 songs ARE STP. Scott Weiland essentially killed himself, same with Layne. The bands have every right to move forward, just as you have every right not to listen. But you're truly missing out
Nov 15, 2017 I know this a hip hop forum but I would encourage anybody and everybody who even slightly likes rock music to delve into STP's discography. They are without a doubt, in my mind, one of the greatest rock bands of all time and their catalog rivals just about anybody else's
Nov 15, 2017 I’m kind of with Ben on this one. I mean Black Gives Way to Blue was a good album, but not Alice in Chains. And Chester with STP sounded like a Cartman cover band. I probably wouldn’t have issues with such things if they didn’t keep their old name. Idk though, I’ll still probably give it a listen.
Nov 15, 2017 An Alice in Chains debate, I like it. BGWTB > Alice in Chains Self Titled I would never say it's better than Facelift, Dirt and Jar of Flies, but it doesn't have to be. It's an impressive comeback album from one of the best bands of the 90's. Jerry Cantrell was a huge part of that sound and William Duvall has done a fine job of standing in for the late, great Layne Staley
Nov 15, 2017 @Sign Language @Bourbon Ben agree to disagree because the rock fans of these GOAT bands gotta stick together on here. I will say tho, I could listen to BGWTB right now and I'm definitely listening to Alice in Chains. But to each his own
Nov 15, 2017 Tbh layne was what made the band special and what made them important to me, without him it would just seem empty to me.
Nov 15, 2017 Btw the self titled album just makes me depressed cuz u could tell layne barely could function at that point its a miracle he made it 6 more years
Nov 15, 2017 And I can appreciate this. Layne Staley is one of the greatest frontmen of all time as well, probably only behind Scott Weiland for me Chris Cornell has to come third
Nov 15, 2017 I disagree but here's why: If you listen to Mad Seasons record Above, made a little over a year before Self Titled, there's no vocal effects weighing Laynes voice down. Those vocals on every song are insane, and then you listen to Alice in Chains S/T and it's like what the f---. I think that was more of the producers than it was Layne
Nov 15, 2017 For the AiC diehards that haven't heard it yet, type in Alice in Chains Rockline interview in youtube. 1999 and all four members, including Layne, are on the phone from different parts of the country. But listen to how much Layne was still there even near the end. He's the funniest one in the group, and I think jerry was always a little jealous of that. Awesome interview
Nov 15, 2017 One year is a long time in heroin addiction. He also started wearing gloves around this point to hide the fact he was shooting up into his knuckles which is the last resort for a heroin addict; the vein u use when all the others are tapped out.
Nov 15, 2017 True. But his vocals on unplugged are good enough to go on a record right? I mean, you can tell he's hurting but those vocals are better than the ones we get on Alice in Chains. By the way, I really like that album. It's just my least favorite when looking at the discography
Nov 15, 2017 Yeah idk, btw the live version of sludge factory is 1000x better than the studio version so u might be right
