Dec 23, 2014 I definitely overrated Oxymoron when it first dropped, but Cilvia Demo only got better with each listen. Maybe it's different for me because I honestly wasn't expecting much out of it (I'd listened to Shot You Down a long time ago and wasn't that big of a fan and also wasn't sold on a simple Kendrick cosign), but I ended up loving it. Oxymoron is all over the place and can't decide if it wants to be a more serious album about drug addiction or just an album full of bangers (it's possible it could have done both with better sequencing and switching out some of the songs for bonus tracks), whereas I think Cilvia Demo does a good job of maintaining cohesion and its own distinct sound. Listening to it while cruising through Tennessee at night also made me appreciate it more.
Dec 23, 2014 Lmao, well first of all you're gonna need to justify your reasoning as to why it's overrated. Can't just use smileys and skate over it bruhh you're in the minority. Waaaaay wayyyy in the minority. So you're unfortunately gonna have to put more effort into defending your opinion here And second, the track isn't horrible lol. Killer mike and el p's verse are incredible ("I will never condescend....now spread your legs...smile a bit" >>>>>>>) and gangsta boo is used perfectly. I'm not a huge fan of her verse and the hooks a bit unfortunate but NONE of it is out of place. It all fits. And it works even better if you place it in context, look at what it's titled etc. And the productions terrible? Are you trolling? The transition/drop from the last track into this is one of the greatest things to happen since Otis/gotta have it. The bass is f---ing out of this world FHD is incredible but we're the ones over rating RTJ. Foh with that logic lol
Dec 24, 2014 What the f--- is wrong with you? When in this thread did I say FHD was incredible It's an 8/10 album. Nothing more nothing less. I'm not sure why you continue to make this about FHD vs RTJ2 when all I said was that RTJ2 is overrated. Also get the f--- out of here with that 'everyone's wrong but you' bs . Great argument man. We're saying it's overrated, obviously critics think more of it than we do dumb f--- Run the Jewels 2 is a great album with a lot of fantastic cuts - Close Your Eyes, Angel Duster and All My Life in particular. But it's reception is similar to Yeezus, and GKMC before that and MBDTF before that. Sorry man, but like @Joshua Smoses said, this is 2 guys rapping good over some good beats. Solid 8.5/10 but it's not in the conversation with the aforementioned albums. n----- you're riding for the album like you made it or something. Chill the f--- out.
Dec 24, 2014 It as good as yeezus and gkmc, without a doubt. Sorry you don't see it that way, your loss really
Dec 24, 2014 Not really my loss given the fact that I've enjoyed the the album front to back to multiple times. Great album man, just no where close to GKMC, Yeezus or MBDTF for me.
Dec 24, 2014 Honestly it's not that FHD is bad it's just that when you pin it directly against a great album (Pinata/RTJ2) then it really feels like it doesn't belong. I enjoy it for what it is though.
Dec 24, 2014 Yeah, I liked Forest Hills Drive and it probably wouldn't crack my top 10. Have to let it sit for a bit still though, I'm still playing it fairly frequently which is more than I can say about Born Sinner lol
Dec 24, 2014 yeezus as good as GKMC yeezus better than GKMC f--- out of here, better yet, get the f--- out of sectioneighty.com with that opinion.
Dec 24, 2014 Im 100x more likely to listen to yeezus front to back on any given day And I'm a Kendrick fan
Dec 24, 2014 I'm a kanye fan and i'm 100x more likely to listen to any other kanye album over yeezus. I'd even go as far as saying "why listen to yeezus when he has 5 better albums? (6 if you include WTT)"
Dec 24, 2014 Yeezus is my second favorite Kanye album on a good day Comfortably sits at his fourth best f'sho though
