Aug 2, 2021 From Anchorage I'm 7 hour jet ride to Europe, 5 hour jet ride to Hawaii and 7 hour 20 minute flight to Tokyo.
Aug 2, 2021 You could probably swim to Russia if you're fit enough and crack a cold one with the border patrol
Aug 2, 2021 Everytime I see ice road truckers on discovery I say to myself I wanna see Alaska someday. I love snow / ice.
Aug 2, 2021 I've been making 6 figures a year since I turned 18... used to spend more time in the Arctic... recent years I just go up for 2 months and make $35k o $45k and then work the rest of the year in other parts of Alaska.
Aug 2, 2021 Just emphasizing the vastness of Alaska... a person could spend their lifetime exploring it... and they would only be able to see a fraction.
Aug 2, 2021 Seems like this whole darkness thing only applies to the most northern parts of Alaska, and sun is up rather long in the summer. Interesting lol, would've thought different
Aug 2, 2021 In the northern part of Alaska the sun rose on May 2 and will set for the first time tomorrow.
Aug 2, 2021 Oh I am not interested in that job lol just when I watch that show I love how the whole icy/snow world looks like over there.
Aug 2, 2021 I knew tons of people who would go up and work on fishing boats/shops and stuff for july and august and then come back and not have to work during the school year at all. Granted it's hard work and was legit 12 hour shifts 7 days a week most of the time (I remember my friend saying he only got three days off the whole summer and he felt lucky when he only worked a regular 8 hour shift) but you can make great money.
Aug 2, 2021 I never watched the show... but I know you have to see things up there in real life to appreciate them...like the aerial phenomenons...the northern lights, sundogs, sun pillars. The Arctic Ocean freezes over and becomes a huge mirror... I've seen three red suns in the sky and you couldn't tell which was the real one.
Aug 2, 2021 Just because the sun doesn't rise doesn't mean it is completely dark... there's daylight without a sunrise.
