Aug 2, 2021 7x12s is a standard work week for me... 7x14's is pushing it (98 hour week). Right now I'm working construction 13 hours a day Monday through Friday and I get 8-20 hours bartending and/or bouncing mostly on the weekends and 8 hours working with concert promoters.
Aug 2, 2021 I dunno... when I'm up there that time a year... I could be working outside in -100 windchill factor... I got headlamps... the lack of light doesn't bother me as much as the brutal soul crushing cold + wind.
Aug 2, 2021 How do you combat that windchill? Like what do you wear? Assuming you do some outdoor work (or even just like going to the store lol)
Aug 2, 2021 I get a lot of love just for being from Alaska when I travel... but there are people that live in Alaska and never leave the comforts of Anchorage... which is basically living the same life as someone from St. Paul, Minnesota. I actually do the scary s--- that impresses other Alaskans who do the scary s---, too... Then I live a kinda double life by living in a fancy high rise in downtown Anchorage and owning multiple rental properties in the most diverse neighborhood in America.
Aug 2, 2021 I work 12 to 14 hours outside when I'm up there... I'm a field slur up there. I wear layers of thermal underwear and thick a--- sweats under my specialy designed FRCs that ate rated for -100... and 10 pound boots... layers of gloves... I keep a box of handwarmers... sometimes I put duct tape on my face... my work truck gets up to 50 degrees with the heater on full blast... try to get in there as much as I can... which if I'm busy... it's not that much.
Aug 2, 2021 That's insane man, I always wondered how people worked with tools/their hands in that weather cuz I figure it must be super dangerous to be exposed to that temp for very long without some thick a--- gloves. I assume your gear includes some sort of specially designed ski mask to protect your face too?
Aug 2, 2021 This thing works best... because without it my glasses or goggles fog up/ice over instantly.
Aug 2, 2021 Did this n----- really just mention me asking where I live in America in a thread titled where do you live USA edition? I live in Texas idiot
Aug 2, 2021 If you cut Alaska in half... Texas would become the 3rd biggest state. Minnesota has 10,000 lakes. Alaska has 3 million. More coastline in Alaska than on the Continental US. Jacksonville likes to brag about being the biggest city area-wise... but that is just in the lower 48... Alaska has 4 cities with more square miles.
Aug 2, 2021 Lived in Palm Springs almost my whole life place is nothing but rich entitled closed minded racist older white people and trend hoping hipsters. Recently left to another city 45 minutes away in Joshua tree/yucca that's not so f---ing hot but up here seems to be more open minded due to the insane amount of hipsters coming down here buying every house fixing it up and turning it into an airbnb. The plan is to move to big bear or up in lake Hemet when we retire and live in a small one bedroom log cabin on some nice land. I'd love to live in Alaska away from everyone too that would be sick. @reservoirGod you live/lived in Alaska didn't you? Would you recommend it as a place to get away and retire or somewhere that's more Forrest/nature?
Aug 2, 2021 Just hungout with a bunch of blokes from South Queensland at a music festival on top of a mountain this weekend... very cool people... what happened to you?
Aug 2, 2021 Yes. I want more Californians to come up here and turn my state purple. Get a place in Homer, Ak.
Aug 2, 2021 You've brought up being on a mountain like 12 times in the past day. News flash res, earth isn't flat, I lived on a Mountain, went to school on a mountain and got laid on a Mountain climbed a mountain etc. They were probably hanging with you cause I'm too cool for them
