    I don't think so, but just try playing Beats 1 first. If it works don't update anything.

    I've never had Quicktime on my laptop and I've had no problem with Beats1

    SOLUTION
    I had the same issue. you have to authorize you computer



    In the top left there is a menu button, go to this menu >> iTunes store >> Authorize This Computer

    Then it works straight away for me.


    For some reason after installing iTunes I needed to reauthorize my computer.

    I tried and it said its already authorized. So i deauthorized it and retried and it still dont work
