Aight,
Watched a few these past couple of days again.
Scream 3
Okay, so yeah I got really mixed feelings here. Basically, the whole meta, selfaware stuff is what made Scream 1, 2 and also 4 stand out and unique compared to other slashers. In 3 they had that little Randy video talking about trilogies but it was so awkward and out of place since it was never mentioned before or after again.
The opening w Cotton was cool. And I like how they went back to Sid's mother, and the fact that the movie focussed more on Dewey/Gale than Sidney. The hollywood actors and actresses were so annoying though. The college kids and highschool kids from 1 and 2 >>> these people.
The eventual twist was cool ngl. And I like that its a nice closure to the story. But yeah the movie itself is far below 1, 2 and also 4.
Giving it a 6/10. PS: YESSS Scream 5!!!!
Holidays
So basically these are 8 or 12 (already forgot) short stories, that take place on holidays; fathers day, mothers day, st patrick, halloween, easter etc. It reminds me of Tales Of Halloween, that has the same set up. Except of course all of them take place on Halloween and, in the end, all stories come together. Holidays just has a couple of stupid, like really stupid stories that are never scary just lame as f---, and I dunno how anyone can actually enjoy that movie.
3/10 for the concept because that was cool. Execution, lame af except for a few creepy parts.

So far
Sinister
Like I said earlier, to me a top 5 horror movie from the 2010's. The great thing about this is that you hardly see the 'monster' and the horrors of the movie are (even if they're supernatural) human. Actually creeped me the f--- out seeing this the second time. Very intense. Not gonna spoil for people that haven't seen it but man those video's... 9/10
Insidious 4; The Last Key
2nd watch. Nice little sidestory about Elaine, the paranormal investigator from the previous movies. This movie actually ends w the events of Insidious 1. The chronological order is actually 3, 4, 1, 2. After 3 movies its nice to dig into her life a little and know her story, but that's kinda it. There's nothing new and the movie never reaches the level of the other installments. 6.5/10
Christine
Actually my first time seeing this. The biggest star here is easily John Carpenter. The music and sound effects remind me so much of Halloween 3 its great. As for the story, its cool. The characters are kinda shallow and I never actually cared for them, but overall is a nice and (then) kinda unique movie. The psychological change the guy made was actually scarier than the car itself lol. 7.5/10

Having a few days off is awesome!
The Entity
Yeah I don't really know what this was supposed to be. A woman gets r---d by an invisable entity or a ghost, and some weirdo science kids are trying to freeze it. Does it make sense? h--- no. Is it scary? Not really. But the thought of some ghost getting into ur bedroom having sex w u is kinda creepy. And, honestly, some of the scenes were kinda hot lmao. But yeah it was a ok watch, but not something I'd revisit. 5.5/10
The Grudge (2020)
So the thing I saw most in reviews before watching is the comparison to the 'original' franchise. I haven't seen the Sarah Michelle Gellar versions in like 10 years so I kinda forgot about them. Definitely gonna rewatch them this october tho!
But honestly it was a good thing because this was a complete new story. No sequel, no prequel, no spin off, starting from scratch. Yes the basic idea for 'the grudge' is the same and the creepy noise too but where the 2004 version and sequel focussed on Japan and the creature, here it's completely different. The movie isn't in chronological order btw. The different stories are told by going back and forth into present day (which is 2006) and the past (2004). And it keeps going back and forth till all the stories come together. At first its kinda annoying but once u get used to it it's actually kinda cool.
So yeah, ignore the franchise and you can definitely enjoy this. At least I did! I guess it's more close to a traditional haunting movie than the 2004 version. 7.5/10

We have another winner!
6 movies in and still no bad one. I was very sceptic about this but it was exciting from start to finish.. some dumb choices obviously like always, and some things are like really impossible, but the characters from 5 really grew on me and they also did the legacy characters justice -one way or another- and it was great how they paid hommage to all the previous killers.
Not gonna spoil anything, except if someone saw it I'm gonna put s--- in spoilers.
I am very happy that... this is a half spoiler but not about the movie itself and how it goes:
they stopped ignoring Roman and Scream 3. They ignored the events of that movie in S4 and 5 but here he is mentioned and even showed in pictures etc. They do still ignore that he was the mastermind behind it all though.. still Billy the OG. Love how they paid hommage to Jill, Nancy Loomis, Micky etc etc tooThe Product, Marsh, Sign Language and 2 others like this. -

What's going on, peeps?
Here's a few horror/thriller films I've watched over the past week or so
Diabolique (1955) - 10/10
Eyes Without a Face (1960) - 7/10
Halloween Ends - 3/10 (This s--- should've ended with '18)
Terrifier - 7/10 (Not big on gory s---, but I enjoyed this for what it was)
Terrifier 2 - 7/10 (The gore in this one is turned up to 100, again not my type of thing, but I liked it)
I prefer Psychological horror films though, so back to thatLil Squeed, Sign Language, 1929357390 and 2 others like this. -
