And it takes intense artistic prowess to do this. He changed music, which is something that encompasses lyricism and rapping. Ye's artistry affects the whole medium Eminem creates art in. Eminem is a better lyricist and rapper, Ye is a better musician. Simply saying Eminem is a better lyricist is a mere contradiction, it doesn't measure their artistry before comparing them, so it's a pointless argument.

Also, in all honesty, bringing Encore up is anything but fair. It's an album made under several sleeping pills. Unless you're comparing Eminem to artists whose discography also includes an album of that sort, you're not making a fair comparison. If you want to argue against a higher position for Eminem, Recovery is probably a better argument.

In terms of rapping, Kanye might be top 35, but in terms of artistry, he's #1. In terms of rapping, Eminem is top 5. In terms of artistry, Eminem is top 20. For that reason, Eminem is higher on my GOAT list, but, as many users already stated, Kanye changed music forever, he started doing things other artists could have never dreamed of, and for that reason, he remains a legend among hip-hop fans

This is what people need to realize. Being the best hip hop artist doesn't make you the best rapper and vice-versa. Eminem is artistic in his own way, you cannot judge an artist the same way you judge the other. He's great at what he's aiming for. He's good at the details, at the track-by-track idea of an album. An artist like Kendrick, on the other hand, is more of a bigger picture artist. I would say an artist like Kendrick is a better hip hop artist than Eminem, his projects are more artistically ambitious - but being a better rapper is more arguable. I do consider Kendrick and Eminem the two best rappers to ever live when it comes to rapping, but artistically it's not that close.

My point is, that album was released, it's part of his discography, he still goes on stage and performs songs from that album. He may have been on sleeping pills, but he obviously still approves of that album. Let's not forget that album included songs like Mockingbird and Like Toy Soldiers, which he couldn't have regretted making. It has to be included into his comparable discography

Those songs are pretty mediocre in my opinion. Both of the flows on those songs are pretty slurred and bad. The rhymes are non existent. The lyricism is pretty meh.

The label wouldn't say no to an artist as big as him. It would sell like crazy, it did sell like crazy.

We're literally judging his skill off how he behaves when under sleeping pills and using that as evidence for the claim he's not a better rapper than X, when X rapper was never under such pills.
