I've been in the military service for over 10 years. My peers and those I served with are not up in arms about kneeling during the anthem. I was actually going to mention this, but I've noticed it's always the old out of the service veterans and/or those that are on the outside looking in that get riled up about these issues. Like imagine me being concerned with someone kneeling while I'm in Afghanistan right now. I'm much more concerned with my situation and the environment I'm in than someone peacefully protesting about a real issue.

Burning the flag is a bit extreme though, that I don't condone. That's not protesting, that's just blatant disregard and upsetting.

yeah I'd agree with this, like people I know who are in their 20's-30's, reserves and do just training around Aus in the army etc, they couldn't give a s--- about that sort of s---, but my mates whose parents have military background are very sorta "yeah say what you want, i'll just knock you out c----" about those issues.

He could do 10 tours in Afghanistan and it still wouldn't change how I feel about kneeling. 3 tours means he did 18 months in total out here. I'm going almost 2 years total being out here. I'm just trying to say if he's really as patriotic as he claims he is, then recognize why this movement started in the first place.

Do you think his point of view on it may be like "i fought for this country etc etc. I'm all for taking a stand against police brutality but not like this - there are better ways" ? cause when I saw the tweet posted above my mind was just like "sounds about right"

not sure how much the national anthem is used in warfare, but I imagine some people would have sang it when paying respects to the dead or other war-fueled occasions

I'm a huge steelers fan and was actually disappointed/sad as f--- seeing the entire locker room leaving this man by himself. What's worse is Tomlin had nerve after the game to actually be mad at him an said I thought everyone was on the same page. Really wished Tomlin would get fired for those remarks he made to his own player who toured Middle East. Idc what any defense you guys have you have to be a complete piece of s--- coach to say that to your own player.

I don't blame other players who do it but leaving a single man out to dry is the ultimate form of disrespect. I would punch Tomlin in the f---ing face if I was him.

it's also NFL so i assume americans watch it for football, not the football team choir singing the national anthem?
