    I understand why you or someone else would call it mumble rap.

    I understand why someone would listen to a song once and think a rapper like future just mumbles.

    When I first listened to thug and future I couldn't understand some of what they said, but through engaging with it more you quickly learn to understand. You've said Future's albums are two of your most listened to this year. Surely you understand that as well?

    I'm not arguing about why someone would call it mumble rap. I 100% understand that. I'm engaging with the term critically beyond face value, which you're refusing to do. You're thinking about it only on the surface level.

    They're not tacked on meanings and there was never "suddenly" a deeper meaning to it. I've always felt this way about the term. It's always been a stupid term, it's always been used to disparage, it's always been rooted somewhat in race. Even if we take out the racial aspect it's still used derogatorily.

    Young Thug and Future are vastly different artists. Putting them under the "mumble rap" umbrella reduces both artists to "just mumbling" when their music is a lot more than that.

    "Mumble rap" isn't just a categorical term like drill or trap. When most people say "mumble rap" they're using it talk s--- about the artists.
