CAM’RON HAS A NEW MIXTAPE ON THE WAY
C. Vernon Coleman II
November 4, 2017
Cam'ron just announced his new mixtape, The Program, is dropping next week and will be followed by a tour of the same name.
Killa made the announcement on Instagram, with a video snippet of a new track. The new song features Cam reminiscing about the good ol' days over a sample of Bill Withers' soul classic, "Lean on Me."
"Ima warn ya/In ya circle don't mean that they in ya corner/Almost was a goner 10 years for marijuana/Only thing I ever said in court 'I plead the fifth, h--- no and no your honor'/So the streets honor me humble believe I'm honored," he rhymes.
During the clip, Cam stands with some dudes in a project hallway while sipping on his new tequila line, Paison, and smoking on fat blunts. The snippet ends with an album cover that shows a group of kids climbing onto a broken down Cadillac in the projects. "Press play▶️ #TheProgram mixtape Nov 11, #TheProgramTour starts Nov 17," he captioned the video.
Killa mentioned dropping a project before 2018 when we spoke to him for his XXL 20th anniversary issues cover story when he said that, after over two decades in the game, hip-hop is more so a hobby these days. "Hip-hop isn't my main source of income at this point. I just do hip-hop because I love to do it," he told us. "I have an album I have to turn in this year. My lawyer told me. I didn't realize I had to turn in an album this year before December."
The Program was initially set to drop in May and will serve as the prelude to his forthcoming LP, Killa Season 2.
