    honest thoughts:

    i knew a long time ago that eminem was no longer for me, but being a beyonce collab, i peeped. i appreciate eminem for speaking directly to the gripes we've all voiced with his music for the past decade.

    but the song itself just sounds like a skylar grey collab from 7 years ago with all the disjointedness and lack of flow that has plagued eminem for as long as i remember now. it really sounds like eminem records his music without any background music and then just cuts and pastes it on to the production. idk if he's deaf to production now, but it seems like he can't even do something as simple as beat counting anymore either. i feel bad for shi--ing on em on a song that he raps about getting s--- on, but that's just how i feel about it.

    good for him for trying to be honest in the subject matter. good effort. his music just isn't for me anymore.

    mumble rap the new wave :whew:

    That's not necessarily an attack on it even though I don't like macklemore, I think it was purposeful in sounding like that with the crumpled up paper noises and stuff. It's one of the best things he's released lyrically in a long time, it's just not for me personally.

    Great article. @bigcountry

    Could've name dropped Kevin Gates in those final paragraphs. He's a "mumble rapper" (you kind of won me over on abandoning that label) who does all kinds of stuff that Eminem Stans typically drool over. He makes vulgar pop, writes entire verses that adhere to the same rhyme, and probably has the most extensive catalog of songs about volatile relationships since Em's early work.
