Nov 22, 2017 His one issue has been flow, the ability to deliver smoothly. But even when he raps on beat, something is still different. Could it be that he has lost his ability with age to naturally do his squeaky voice? Even on TES he had a different voice. He could sound like a female too like in Superman. I think that is the difference. Now he uses a regular, deeper voice. When he tried his old voice in Cold Wind Blows, it wasn’t the same. Has Eminem ever partaken in vocal training? I think his change in voice has stripped him of his confidence.
Nov 22, 2017 i for one didn't mind the "shouting" on recovery cause he still sounded 'hungry', cliche, but now his voice is just weird ya and i don't know where he picked up the shouting at he end of a line thing but he's just gotta relax w that and keep a calm voice i think it'd sound a lot better
Nov 22, 2017 I think his voice changes with his delivery and he experiments with different voices. I mean look at The Warning and Forever. They're the most pre-hiatus sounding verses post-hiatus and Recovery was recorded not even a year after those were and nothing changed in that time besides his delivery and flow. He's most definitely able to still do his more traditional sounding voice, but for some reason he doesn't. I also think he writes in a different way than he used to and that probably has an effect on it as well.
Nov 23, 2017 Listening to Slim Shady LP and Eminem had a certain amount of confidence in his voice, maybe even arrogance. He doesn't have that at all anymore. He is super insecure in his stuff and admitted that he was stripped of confidence. And he's surprised that it didn't sell? Eminem needs to wake up. He doesn't need to concede defeat. Just get back to either Slim Shady or TES and start flowing. Eminem outsmarted himself from overthinking. Needs to grow some balls, be a man, and make it happen. I mean there's this theory that he doesn't want to sound the same each album. But that gives him no excuses to sound the way he has been sounding. It's a contradiction. I'd rather have him sound good repetitively than choppy repetitively.
Nov 23, 2017 I think his voice has changed yes. I think part of the reason that without drugs he just sounds awkward, unsure about himself & lacking in confidence especially since the reaction to Relapse. Terrible album his voice sounded better on that album despite some weird flows.
Nov 23, 2017 Some of it is mixing/production. He layered his vocals way more on past albums. MMLP2 had a lot of single-tracked vocals.
Nov 23, 2017 Which f---ing sucks. Layer your s--- Man. Tha f---???? How can they not see how much smoother it sounds layered?? Dre mixing about 4 tracks on the album according to em?? Why??? He needs to mixing the whole f---ing thing down because honestly, the mixing and mastering for Rubins simplistic sample heavy, tinny sounding beats was honestly a f---ing car crash. Album would have abundantly cleaner if the whole thing was mixed better.
Nov 23, 2017 Just compare the original Infinite track 1996 and the remix 2016. One sounds like garbage, the other as a super classic hit of rap music of 90's.
Nov 23, 2017 Very, very bad production of Eminem began in 2013 with the arrival of Rick Rubin on board.
Nov 23, 2017 I've never had a problem with the fact that you all call the accent on the Relapse album. I do not even hear it, for me it's just the maniacal voice of Eminem. I've never had hatred for Relapse or Recovery or for Eminem's past albums. (exclude original Infinite 1996) Relapse Eminem voice & flow >>>>>>> 10000000x >>>>> Walk on Water or No Favros Eminem voice & flow.
Nov 23, 2017 Enough with this threads already. His voice sounds different on every f---in' album. He can still rap like he did in the past. Concerts and s--- are the proof of that. Remember the Renegade performance on the roof top w Jay.
Nov 23, 2017 ‘He can still rap like he did in the past.’ Ok ok I’m sorry but... Ok for real man my bad, but wait wait.....in the past as in like... the past week?? Or what do you mean?
Nov 23, 2017 Maybe he doesn't want to. Or maybe because of his writing. He writes in a way that it makes him hard to use that voice sometimes. He can still use that stupid nasal voice but ppl would have run it into ground if he did it at this age on his songs. Btw, don't get me wrong his voice matured a lil of course.
Nov 23, 2017 if u really think Recovery's production was better than MMLP 2's you are earless and probably hearing sounds thru ur a---.
Nov 23, 2017 His voice and flow on Relapse were fantastic, but his new voice and flow is trash I think his biggest weakness is his new voice/flow and his subject matter
Nov 23, 2017 I don’t understand the hate for Rick Rubin’s production on Eminem projects, there’s nothing wrong with what he does, it’s just that Em can’t capatilise on his beats. Alex Da Kid...now that’s a bad producer
