Em is the better rapper but Kendrick is the better artist. TPAB is one of the best albums of all time, Eminem has sold alot of copies but his albums are average artistically.

I didn't mean that changing subjects is a bad thing, I think it's a dumb reason to dismiss an artist. If the execution/sound changes up its fine w me. Like, Jay raps about money (etc) a lot but does it in different ways w different sounds which makes it good to me

Cam'ron - Old TV shows, drug deals gone bad, Harlem neighborhoods, directionless relationships with hood chicks

J.Cole - human feces punchlines, post-college struggles, socio-ethical awareness, rejection of fame

Rick Ross - opulent automobiles, cocaine, more cocaine, his weight, lucrative dates with women

Uhhhh what did I start in this thread...? Nas is overrated. He's in no way a GOAT and illmatic is honestly not that good compared to most albums these days. Jay just plain sucks, while Nas is at least alright. Jay has never made a classic album front to back either and always rapped about the same s--- over and over again. Nowadays he just adapts to whatever sound/style is hot at the moment and uses his fame to sell numbers and say his s--- is original when it's not at all.

Jay > Nas tbh. I used to think it was Nas, but now that I think about it, not only does Jay have a better discog and flow, but he's also a better lyricist. I mean, he's got more complex rhyme schemes than Nas (Dead Presidents II), better wordplay, better double-entendres, better metaphors, and better punchlines. That's not to say Nas isn't a legend. Nas is in my top 10 while Jay is in my top 5
