Feb 22, 2018 On February 23, Chicago rapper Towkiodrops WWW., his debut studio album. Ahead of its official release, he’s premiering the album from a unique location: Today, he’s going up 100,000 feet to the stratosphere in a helium balloon where he’ll listen to the record on a speaker. He’ll then parachute back down to earth. (And despite tweeting, “I go up 100,000 ft dropping my album from space,” he is not physically dropping it, a rep clarified.) Watch footage from the endeavor below. “I’m not scared,” Towkio recently told DJBooth. “If I die... God forbid, I’m not gonna die. I know he’s protecting me. I see 11:11 every single day. It’s under my spell and under my power that this all will happen. Worst comes to worst, I’ll die the only way I would want to die. I’m not gonna die, though.” WWW. is out via Rick Rubin’s American Recordings/Republic Records). It includes the fittingly-titled song “2 da Moon.” https://pitchfork.com/news/towkio-dropping-new-album-while-inside-helium-balloon-100000-feet-in-air/
