I'd disagree. This country is like 15 countries in one culturally. Obviously there's overlap because we are a single country, but the Pacific Northwest is vastly different from the south which is vastly different from California which is vastly different from Texas which is vastly different from the northeast which is vastly different from the southwest etc etc.

I've recently acquired land on Saint Lucia... plan to start building a bungalow there soon.

Being Mexican, the only 3 places I think an outsider would enjoy is Manzanillo, Puerto Vallarta & Cabo San Lucas <-- probably the one I'd recommend the most. The media overblows the narco war that's going on, it's horrible in certain parts certainly, but it's not something I'd expect tourists to bump into as long as you don't cause any trouble.

Manzanillo isn't as exotic but it's cheaper and you can rent a nice villa with a group of friends/family, just make sure you have something to travel with. Cancun is nice too but way too Americanized these days.

Yeah I cant see USA as 'one country'

I see it more as like, europe with different' countries' (states). Being in one place doesn't mean u seen it all.. quite the opposite.
