Mar 26, 2018Love both, but this. And I actually like Nas more, if not, just as much as I do Tupac, as iconic 1990's-Era Hip-Hop Heavyweights. Listened to Tupac a lot when I was really young. Turned a teenager and became a huge Nas fan.
That feeling followed me throughout my Early-20's. I still play Pac when I want to let go of some anger, therapeutically. It's usually a song where Pac is just going in, non-stop, raging about a topic that really grinds his gears.
"Me and My Girlfriend" is such a classic though. Hard to pit any similar song against it for the purpose of comparing and contrasting.
Love "I Gave You Power", but like someone said, it lost its true luster before it even began because Nas lets you know that's he's mentioning a gun throughout the verse before he even starts the song. Tupac knew better.
