I think it’s something that a lot of ppl who didn’t start listening to rap until their last high school yrs/post-high school do. Just disregard what they don’t know and be on top of whatever they do know. s----s been going on since the OF days.

The genre evolving says nothing for the quality of what came before. I hate the "all rap should sound exactly like stuff I already listen too" crowd as well, but it doesn't stop me appreciating the classics. Dismissing anything older than you out of hand is just as dumb for different reasons.

Jay and L also didn't molest any kids, so they got that going for them.

True that. I used to do the same s--- when Joey Bad first popped up. The hip-hop world had so many new interesting characters around that time and hearing Joey’s music next to it was not cool at all so I was def in that “f--- this dusty a--- n-----” crowd. Not to mention all the old heads and REAL HIPHOP ONLY crowd were quick to claim him and disregard all the other interesting acts out as s---.

I'm so ahead of my time my parents haven't met yet

Always loved the Milkbone beat they used for this entire freestyle, gives the whole thing this soothing presence meanwhile theres a barage of wordplay and punches going on. If anyone hasn't seen it, there's a fantastic mini-doc on the Stretch & Bobbito show on Netflix, my Uncle used to tell me how awesome and impossible to find that station was.
