Brah I have broken it down in excruciating detail numerous times here and also wrote an article on it. Idk how else I can explain it. The majority of people probably don't mean anything outwardly racist by it and I don't think that you or anyone else is racist just because they use the term but saying it has nothing to do with race is crazy.Ordinary Joel, Caine, FrenchKick and 3 others like this. -

Spent majority of my life in NYC and southern rappers have been big there for as long as I can remember. The only ppl making it about regions are hip hop fans from neighborhoods named Oakleaf or GlennwoodOrdinary Joel, DKC, Caine and 1 other person like this.Nov 18, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) -

The south is dominating the genre right now, Future/Thug/Gucci/whoever are some of the most effective and evocative writers in rap. Some of the most acclaimed and influential acts the genre's ever seen have come out of the south, like Outkast, UGK, Goodie Mob, Geto Boyz, Three 6, the list goes on.Ordinary Joel, DKC, Caine and 1 other person like this. -

100% agree
They even said this about southern rappers in the 90s and 2000s. Its really some subliminal racial s--- because really what they doing is clowing someone’s accent and culture. Just because they got a different accent doesnt mean they are any less intelligent.
That entire term just some hateful s--- deep down.Ordinary Joel, Lil Squeed, RetiredAccount and 1 other person like this.Nov 18, 2025(This ad goes away when signing up) - Nov 18, 2025

Rap is inherently political because of the environment and circumstances it was born out of, it's gonna be entwined with it for as long as it exists. Just going to get more prevalent as time goes on.Ordinary Joel, DKC and Caine like this. -
