You can't talk about 2008-2012 without talking about all of those Drake singles. The Wayne collabs alone were inescapable and really the last flash of Wayne's best days that Drake brought out of him: Right Above It, HYFR, The Motto, Miss Me. Then you have his solo s--- like Headlines and Marvin's Room and the couple I lead off with. Then there's those couple of hits with Khaled like No New Friends and I'm On One. His catalog of hits is extensive to say the least.
On a personal level, I still return to Underground Kings and June 17 regularly and I can't even finish the projects Drake was putting out back then. The guy has an undeniable knack for singles. You can dispel a lot of myths about Drake's supposed status, but I don't think that's one of them.Last edited: Jun 28, 2018JIGGA MANE, Skippy and Meero like this. -

- Jay Z - undisputable at this point really, 5 classics, 8 year straight run, 22 years of relevance, one of the most versatile flows coupled with a taste for hitmaking and an insane pen game
- Lil Wayne - close to Jay and has had the greatest peak of any rapper, long career but not enough classics to compete with Hov
- The Notorious BIG - the greatest to ever flow, strong wordplay, great beat selection, unfortunately career was cut short
- Kanye West - insane lyricism and rhyme schemes (we ain’t going nowhere we got suits and cases is a quadruple entendre, plus his rhyme schemes are some of the catchiest in the game). Most classics of any musician ever
- Ice Cube - two top ten rap albums of all time
- Cam’ron - never got the recognition he deserved but easily one of the most influential rappers of the aughts
- 2Pac - vivid storyteller, passionate music, one of the first rappers to become a large persona outside of the music
- Andre 3000 - sonically well rounded, insane lyricism, hampered by delivery
- Eminem - high peak but ultimately failed to deliver for the majority of his career, only has 1 classic
- Drake - one of the most consistent runs in rap history, behind Jay and Wayne. Too divisive for any of his albums to be truly considered classics (yet)
