His singles defined a generation's formative years no different than how Wayne's did for the generation prior. You know Best I Ever Had and Find Your Love are popping up at wedding receptions and s--- now. It's nearly impossible to gatekeep what classic means when it comes popular music. Try saying Michael Jackson and The Beatles didn't have hits without coming off like a contrarian. Drake is that level of iconic.

You can't talk about 2008-2012 without talking about all of those Drake singles. The Wayne collabs alone were inescapable and really the last flash of Wayne's best days that Drake brought out of him: Right Above It, HYFR, The Motto, Miss Me. Then you have his solo s--- like Headlines and Marvin's Room and the couple I lead off with. Then there's those couple of hits with Khaled like No New Friends and I'm On One. His catalog of hits is extensive to say the least.

On a personal level, I still return to Underground Kings and June 17 regularly and I can't even finish the projects Drake was putting out back then. The guy has an undeniable knack for singles. You can dispel a lot of myths about Drake's supposed status, but I don't think that's one of them.

    1. Jay Z - undisputable at this point really, 5 classics, 8 year straight run, 22 years of relevance, one of the most versatile flows coupled with a taste for hitmaking and an insane pen game
    2. Lil Wayne - close to Jay and has had the greatest peak of any rapper, long career but not enough classics to compete with Hov
    3. The Notorious BIG - the greatest to ever flow, strong wordplay, great beat selection, unfortunately career was cut short
    4. Kanye West - insane lyricism and rhyme schemes (we ain’t going nowhere we got suits and cases is a quadruple entendre, plus his rhyme schemes are some of the catchiest in the game). Most classics of any musician ever
    5. Ice Cube - two top ten rap albums of all time
    6. Cam’ron - never got the recognition he deserved but easily one of the most influential rappers of the aughts
    7. 2Pac - vivid storyteller, passionate music, one of the first rappers to become a large persona outside of the music
    8. Andre 3000 - sonically well rounded, insane lyricism, hampered by delivery
    9. Eminem - high peak but ultimately failed to deliver for the majority of his career, only has 1 classic
    10. Drake - one of the most consistent runs in rap history, behind Jay and Wayne. Too divisive for any of his albums to be truly considered classics (yet)
HMs: LL Cool J (the first rapper to really be dominant amongst his peers, a little too washed nowadays though), Pusha T (diet biggie), Nas (made a top ten rap album of all time, made the third greatest diss track of all time)
