Streaming has swept the game the last two years among casuals and in a way I understand that because music isn't a big enough priority for them

But those of you that frequent music forums what the f--- are you doing?!?!? There seems to be so many cons to streaming that far outweigh the pros

    CONS

    • Political agendas: when an artist is swept in controversy these streaming services are pressured to pull the plug on them or boycott them. Regardless what young thug ever does in his life nobody can ever snatch him from my iTunes library that I own.
    • Leaks/Demos/majority of mixtapes absent from streaming: will never be on these services, all the young thug/kanye leaks and demos I've gathered hundreds of them will never be streamable and over time will become even more rare as more and more people ditch their collections for s-----y "convenience"
    • Not owning the music: sure you can play it but God forbid you don't pay your subscription you no longer have any right to the music and God forbid you're somewhere without service and forgot to query music for offline play you're f-----.
    • Exclusives: Not being able to get an album upon release because it's an apple/tidal exclusive and being on the losing side of that. When TLOP dropped alot of people weeks after release never heard it because it wasn't on AM that's ridiculous
    • Paying for digital subscriptions: As of now this isn't a huge problem yet most subscriptions will only cost you about $10 but with all the points listed above and the inevitable that once physicals / option to purchase an album are fazed out in the upcoming years streaming will have a monopoly on how we consume music and create a price hike for a watered down experience. You have options like free Spotify but can't even play an album in the order you want and have to sit through commercials

People you need to OWN your music, build a collection no one can take away from you that includes those alternate/leak/demo versions and albums without worrying about sample clearance or political agendas

Have never had a streaming service. Learned how to get anything I want in other ways over 10 years ago
