Let's start with their styles. Both rely heavily on their flows, rhythms, and melodies to carry their songs. While they are able to display their lyrical abilities in full effect, they choose to put the musicality first. Jay-Z even mentions this in this famous line "If skills sold, truth be told I'd probably be, lyrically, Talib Kweli. Truthfully I wanna rhyme like Common Sense (but I did 5 mill), I ain't been rhyming like Common since".

Both have taken part in beefs. After winning a beef they then (arguably) lost a beef and then released an album with mixed reviews that took shots at the rapper that they beefed with. For Jay, he won a beef against Mobb Deep, lost a beef against Nas (arguably), and then released "The Blueprint 2", which had multiple disses towards Nas. For Drake, he won a beef against Meek Mill, lost a beef against Pusha-T, and then released "Scorpion", which had multiple disses towards Pusha-T (8 out of 10).

Both have had an insane amount of commercial success. With Drake being the first artist in history to have more than 1 billion streams in his first week, and being the first artist in history to have back to back #1 hits on the billboard charts. Jay, on the other hand, is the second best-selling rapper of all time, behind Eminem.

Both have huge influence on their basketball teams. With Drake supporting the raptors and Hov supporting the knicks, these two have merged the gap between basketball and hip-hop.

Both are considered "overrated", and in turn are actually underrated as rappers to those without a deep understanding of hip-hop. Because of their success they have both been considered "sellouts" by the public, but are heavily respected by other rappers.

Anyways, that's just my opinion.

For sure. It’s obvi Drake has framed his whole style now after Jay. A lot of the criticism launched at Drake for his braggadocious raps were also thrown at Jay. Especially during the feuds with Nas/Mobb Deep.
