Floyd Mayweather Jr. announced Monday in Tokyo that he has agreed to a bout in the Rizin Fighting Federation

Mayweather will fight on Dec. 31 at Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.

Both Mayweather and his opponent, Tenshin Nasukawa, were both introduced at a news conference in Tokyo by Rizin officials. It was not clear whether it will be a boxing match, an MMA fight or some other combat sport.

Floyd is going to outweigh Tenshin by 30+ pounds on fight night lol. I honestly think Tenshin could still KO him with a clean rolling thunder.

His signature move. Of course, that depends on the ruleset and what not. Tenshin last fought an MMA fighter in a kickboxing match, former UFC flyweight contender Kyogi Horiguchi. Was a pretty compelling match with Kyogi troubling him early.

This is pretty much a farce given the weight disparity, but at least the world will be exposed to a great talent in Tenshin. He's not the best Japanese kickboxer at his weight, that honor goes to Takeru who is older and more accomplished, but he's definitely the future.

Floyd's not stupid. This will be a boxing match. Period. Any kind of kicks or elbows and Floyd gets murdered.

I really don't think he would. This is coming from somebody who actually watches Tenshin fight.

I take it Floyd's gambling is not going too well.

The fight is off. Was supposed to be a closed exhibition for a wealthy crowd. Rizin surprised Floyd at the press conference.

Floyd is full of s---. He announced the fight on his IG before the pres conference. You don't do that for a "private" fight.

I don't see why he has any reason to back out otherwise. He would ruin Tenshin in a boxing match. He holds all the cards, and if it was a purse problem, I don't think he'd hide that.

So, if he's lying, what's the real reason he's backing out now?

Floyd is acting weird ever since his retirement against Berto.

He either has money troubles from gambling or gets jealous of boxing moving on.

I think he is going to stay fighting like Roy Jones although he is smart & will only fight people who he know he will beat.
A Pacquaio rematch will probably happen next year after he signed with Haymon.
