May 15, 2019 So we didn’t get the name of the show or night of the week but overall today was awesome!
May 16, 2019 - Production covered - Split of the ad shares - No outright fee for the property, but the money is guaranteed. We just have no sense of the value because it's based on what's coming in. Insane to have production covered. Sponsor's have to be on board if the idea is to make this profitable in 2020, which is the apparent belief.
May 16, 2019 its likely to happen. WWE are only pulling around 2 million viewers a week per show. TNA were pulling that 10 years ago just to put that into perspective. AEW can easily pull those numbers right off the bat with how popular they currently are. If they do things right they can only get bigger. Either way its the most facinating thing to happen in wrestling since the WCW days. Im extremely excited to see how this all plays out. If i was a betting man i would say AEW are going to wipe the floor with WWE in the long term.
May 16, 2019 I'm a betting man and you'd lose your money, man. Chill! I'm as excited as anyone for AEW, it's literally got me back into wrestling after five years but man, do not underestimate the absolute powerhouse that WWE is. Just because the product's dog s--- doesn't mean as a company they're not a juggernaut. They know they don't need to try with their shows because people watch no matter what. Their last TV deal was $2.35 billion.
May 16, 2019 It's literally impossible. Theoretically they could compete in the ratings, but this is a decades long game if we're talking about overtaking them.
May 16, 2019 Yeah, it'll never happen in our lifetime. If we're talking overtaking as in becoming the #1 company in the world then yeah, it's basically a certainty not to happen.
May 19, 2019 I don't blame Kahn for wanting Page to go over since he's working full time for AEW and is clearly one of the top 3 guys they are pushing the most. I guess I technically don't blame Dragon Gate for not wanting Pac to lose since he's their champion, although I disagree with it, seeing as it's a ton of exposure for their champion/championship. What I don't understand is, how has this just now become an issue?? Why wasn't the finish agreed upon weeks ago? Either: 1. AEW didn't come with a finish until the week before the show- which I don't buy for a second. 2. DG tried to pull a power play at the last min to strong arm AEW in putting Pac over because they didn't think Kahn would pull the match- most likely IMO 3. The real issue was Pac wasn't able to get a visa (which had been rumored weeks ago) and they are playing this up as political issue to get heat for when the match does take place on a future AEW show- I could buy this too, but this is also something they should have known about/rescheduled a long time ago. Very strange situation regardless. Word on the street is, Page will be having a match against a replacement that will be a big deal. If Moxley was going to debut on this show in some form, it would make perfect sense to involve him with Page now.
May 19, 2019 I'd personally wait to debut him. Also, this hasn't really gone over well with people and predictably so, so I can't imagine it being a Visa issue. The Dragon Gate power play scenario makes sense, but Pac hasn't lost to anyone and done two draws. Khan saw the reaction that got live at the Ospreay match, so they apparently wanted to avoid that and make it known they won't do draws or f--- finishes, at least on big shows. Timing of the show was also an issue, because it would have to go 30 to be legitimate, but then Omega/Jericho would need an excuse to go longer.
May 19, 2019 I do know PAC had to pull out of WrestleCon due to Visa issues, but at the time they said it wouldn't be a problem for Double or Nothing and everything would be resolved in time.
May 19, 2019 I guess the new info is that Pac was going to over Page at this show, but then lose to Kenny at All In 2. DG told them they wouldn’t let him lose at that show either, so Kahn didn’t want to waste having Page lose to someone who was going to refuse to lose to Kenny. If this is true, it all pretty much makes sense now...bummer regardless. I guess they will be releasing the match from yesterday on Tuesday
May 19, 2019 im not underestimating them at all. I completely understand what a powerhouse they are. thats why i said long term. but i have a strong feeling they will beat WWE's ratings. Maybe not right away, but by next year. s--- AAA did a 5.4million rating with the bucks and lucha bros not that long ago. thats doubling what WWE are currently doing
May 20, 2019 Sooo ratings for AAA in Mexico don't really mean anything tangible. They're on a great station and they're a huge company there, it doesn't cross over.
