    I'm just gonna keep posting stuff from last year I dig up. This is another NYC throwback artist, complete with using fa---- derogatorily. Better writer than the last one though his production choices aren't quite as idiosyncratic. Kinda sounds like Blu. @Hypebeasts

    I didn't say he was from there. I definitely wouldn't classify his sound as west coast. Hence the Blu reference.

    Okay, but I'm not going to recommend this album to people who like Kurupt. Would you prefer I call back to boom bap or just call it "east coast hip-hop"? I don't think many people listen to Earl Sweatshirt and think "now this is that west coast s---".

    i'm not even being pedantic, the idea that huey is an "east coast hip-hop"-sounding guy is just...obtuse to me

    Because to most people, they do? Also, the production is more than half the battle when pinning down a genre in rap. The opening track has record scratches on it. The drums all over this sound like a DJ Premier pack.

    Genres are pretty obtuse.

    Do we at least agree he sounds like Blu? Do I get half credit for that?
