as much as this album is overrated, it still is one of the greatest pieces of music I've ever heard. 25 years later and its just as brilliant as it was when it dropped. It will never be replicated. GOAT.

Definitely a GOAT album. Not my personal favorite, not even my favorite Nas album, but an essential album for every rap fan. Some of these songs are all time classics and never get old, as much as pple like to call it dust.

Nas probably got lifted as f--- at the album release party when this dropped in 1994. Forgot this was basically an Easter drop. Happy 25th Anniversary to my Second Favorite Nas album. Unpopular opinion, but Stillmatic is my absolute fave Nas album.

Very few albums can transport you to a specific time and place quite as effectively as Nas took us to early 90s NY here

Still listen to Represent on the regular.

One of my favorite rap songs I’ve ever heard.

For the record, this and NY State of Mind are my 2 favorite songs off the album. NY state of mind is the better song but Represent reminds me of my childhood and my early love of hip hop when I was in 6th grade. At that young age I didn’t fully grasp the importance of NY state of mind so represent was my go to song.

Can’t believe it’s been 25 years. I’m old as dirt smh

Shoutout to @WheresTheMeat for creating the best threads (along with @Sav Stanfield)

Cornerstone of Hip hop. There’s been greatness before it, there’s been greatness after it, but the genre begins and ends with Illmatic. It ain’t hard to tell.

People always rate this as the best rap album of all time, yet no one ever actually talks about individual tracks off the album. None of these tracks are iconic or memorable in any way shape or form.

Phenomenal album. One of the few I can listen to start to end, no filler. Classic. A true classic.
