Hard to say what constitutes “current generation.” Cuz you have people like Future and Thug who are prob a generation prior at this point but have innovated into the next generation so they still feel very current and new.
People like Cole and Kendrick I associate with the blog generation.
I’d prob consider this generation anyone who had their breakout project maybe like 2014-present.

Joey Purp
Noname
NBA Youngboy
Rico Nasty
Maxo Kream
Isaiah Rashad
Drakeo

Kodak and Gates are kinda on the cusp as their breakout tapes were in 2013 I believe. Thug and Migos too. Future was a lil earlier but still massively important for this gen.Ordinary Joel, Buddha, Bananacliptheory and 2 others like this. -

What's the cutoff for current gen? Guys like Cole and Kendrick have been around for over a decade now.
If we minimise it to the last decade, then:
Noname, Little Simz, Mick Jenkins, SABA, MIKE, Earl Sweatshirt, DaBaby, Ill Camille, JPEGMAFIA, Lil Uzi Vert, Maxo Kream, Vnce Staples, Smino, Young Thug, YGTUT, Young Fathers, Chance, Tyler the Creator etc etc. are some that have had tremendous projects that I've enjoyedSav Stanfield, Buddha, DKC and 2 others like this. -

'current' generation is hard to describe cause people are listing guys like kendrick and cole
when they're not from the same time as father or ilovemakonnen
and theyre not from the same time as guys like uzi or 21
and theyre not from the same time as guys like ski mask or lil peep
and theyre not from the same time as guys like 6ix9ine or lil baby
and theyre not from the same time as guys like blueface or dababy
hip hop moves really fast these days and a word like generation casts too wide a netDKC, Sav Stanfield, Michael Myers and 1 other person like this. -

Really f--- with Denzel Curry and Cordae lately.
Side note: blog era rap will always be my favorite. Shoutout to XV finally making a project for the first time since 2012 lmao.
Side note 2: I remember YG opened up for Wiz and Snoop back in 2011 and he brought out Meek Mill in Philly to do Im A Boss. Pre-DC2 meek at that. Was legendarySav Stanfield, Ordinary Joel and Buddha like this. -

Carti
Uzi
