What's the cutoff for current gen? Guys like Cole and Kendrick have been around for over a decade now.

If we minimise it to the last decade, then:

Noname, Little Simz, Mick Jenkins, SABA, MIKE, Earl Sweatshirt, DaBaby, Ill Camille, JPEGMAFIA, Lil Uzi Vert, Maxo Kream, Vnce Staples, Smino, Young Thug, YGTUT, Young Fathers, Chance, Tyler the Creator etc etc. are some that have had tremendous projects that I've enjoyed

When I made the thread what this is based on I said current to avoid one specific name being brought up and make the thread derail lmao

But yeah u can argue about artists like Cole, Thug etc but on the other hand they are very active right now

Since you said Cole, I'm assuming it starts somewhere around 06.

Lupe Fiasco hasn't been mentioned yet, so that's my pick.

Hard to say what constitutes “current generation.” Cuz you have people like Future and Thug who are prob a generation prior at this point but have innovated into the next generation so they still feel very current and new.

People like Cole and Kendrick I associate with the blog generation.

I’d prob consider this generation anyone who had their breakout project maybe like 2014-present.

    Off the dome:
    Uzi
    Carti
    Greedo
    JPEG
    Saba
    Joey Purp
    Noname
    NBA Youngboy
    Rico Nasty
    Maxo Kream
    Isaiah Rashad
    Drakeo
    YG

Kodak and Gates are kinda on the cusp as their breakout tapes were in 2013 I believe. Thug and Migos too. Future was a lil earlier but still massively important for this gen.

I guess if we had to try narrow down what the 'current' generation is, I'd say anyone who debuted/blew up in the past 2-3 years or so

    Melly
    DaBaby
    Greedo
    Gunna/Baby
    Megan
    Rico
    Carti
    Uzi
    Tierra Whack
    JPEG
    Saba
    Youngboy NBA
    Ski Mask
    JID
    Dolph
    6lack
    21 Savage

if we're talking about the full decade thats a whole different story though

I cant fw most the new wave kats that came out in last few years. Most of them lack any originality and are essentially some kind of RIP off of future/thug/keef/migos. The rappers I fw with that blew up recently are more the traditional/raw hip hop type rappers like maxo/benny the butcher etc

    Talking new gen and ignoring Cole and Kendrick and s---, here’s mine of the top of my head now;

    Joyner Lucas
    Joey badass
    JID
    Boogie
Russ - (I don’t want to like him or like to admit it but I quite like some of his s---. He’s a cocky f--- tho)

i think its very difficult to say what's the new/current generation. With Em it's very difficult. He already is a OG but is still an topic in the current generation
