Aug 4, 2019 WTF happened here - The album was done, he dropped a Dre endorsed freestyle at the beginning of last year, and also shot the video to the first track off the album (feat Anderson Paak. and Candace Pillay), but nothing happened. Any idea why he got shelved? I speak to him on instagram sometimes, and he could never tell me. All i know is that he is releasing independently soon. It's such a pity, because Dre sat on him for so long. TBH, he sounds like he was a better version of Joyner (I love Joyner) before Joyner's time? Before someone says, "it's the Aftermath curse", perhaps people have more knowledge?
Aug 4, 2019 Aftermath curse. Yeah I know. But I doubt there's really more to it. Dre is a f---ing immovable object. I'm sure he's a great mentor in a lot of ways but you won't release an album under him unless you have the clout to do it without him.
Aug 4, 2019 Holy s---, you're amazing! That album could be soopoooo dope. Same as Rakim's Aftermath album... Get Rich Or Die Trying beats were meant to be Rakim's
Aug 4, 2019 Bishop Lamont is still my #1 lost Aftermath album. Man that vault must be overflowing with music by now.
Aug 4, 2019 Haha yea I wanted that Rakim album so badly. The only reason it’s 2nd on my list after Ortiz is because Ortiz signed to aftermath right after he released the bodega chronicles and was in his youthful prime exploding onto the scene. He still had that raw, untapped and unpolished sound whereas Rakim was a long time seasoned vet by the time he signed with aftermath. Dude Dre’s vault must be packed to the brim with so many classic songs and beats. He’s worked with so many amazing producers. Imagine all those unused beats just sitting there collecting dust. And all the unreleased songs he’s worked on: Solo Dre tracks, Snoop, Daz, Kurupt, maybe even some unused Pac verses, Em, 50, Busta, Rakim, Ortiz, plus all the other Shady and aftermath signees, etc. f--- man, I really hope someday we get to hear some of it. Edit: I wonder if he has any unused Nate Dogg or Devin the Dude hooks? Dammit Dre start releasing that s---!
Aug 4, 2019 No such thing as an Aftermath curse. Just people who can't keep up with Dre's expected work ethic.
Aug 5, 2019 I'll never forgive @YNW Squiddy for telling me he's good and told me to listen to a mixtape where he rapped over recovery beats
Aug 5, 2019 I also got really baked once and said Raury's album was better than Kendrick's discography lol it's best to completely disregard all of my opinions on here
Aug 5, 2019 What I heard was the album didn't come out due to management issues. At least we got two .Paak albums
Aug 5, 2019 Classic Aftermath graveyard of artists...never to be heard of again...it’s sad that a lot of us predicted this outcome...so much promise in the beginning
