Apr 12, 2022 Can't see him fitting into Saul's story in any real way considering he was only in season 5 and we all know how that ended lol. Maybe a short cameo, it would be dope to see what that creep was doing pre-getting involved with Jesse and Walt. Jesse Plemons lowkey became a really great actor tho. I liked him a lot as Todd (he's especially good at playing weirdos like that) but never expected him to have such a flourishing career post-BB.
Apr 12, 2022 Truly tho, a straight sociopath in a way not even Tuco was. One of the creepiest villains in any tv show I've ever seen to this day
Apr 12, 2022 also this summarizes how I feel. Not a diss to breaking bad in any capacity just a testament to how good BCS is.
Apr 12, 2022 Jimmy is more redeemable in that he doesn’t ever do anything as heinous and unforgivable as many of the things Walt does but I disagree with the notion that Walt was some evil sociopath from the start. It’s easy to come to that conclusion because we don’t see Walt struggling to provide for his family legally for years before we meet him, we only get a very brief glimpse of it at the start of S1. Most of what we see of Walt is his descent into blatantly not caring about his family and doing whatever it takes to get more money and power. The difference is, we’re with Jimmy during the few years of his life where he is trying to go legit and be a good person. For several seasons. Societal pressures force both of them into crime, Walt just goes a lot further.
Apr 12, 2022 yeah I don't think Walt was entirely evil to start (or even at the end, he did care about people just not as much as he cared about power), but he was definitely an a------ who was unhappy with his life and felt like the universe wronged him specifically cuz of his ego. Not even the cancer (which would understandably make someone feel that way), just like his job and family life. He felt like he was above teaching high school—which I mean, skill- and intelligence-wise, sure, but I always had a few teachers who seemed too smart to be teaching public high school but they did it anyway because they liked it...there's no inherent shame in being a teacher but I'm sure it is draining to get paid pennies to help make sure next generation of kids aren't too dumb to function in society. When I rewatched BB for the first time one of the first things I noticed was how much of a dickhead Walter was from the start, cancer or no cancer. But to be fair I haven't rewatched Saul at all.
Apr 12, 2022 It would have been kind of interesting to get more of a look at how Walt functioned in society/with his family pre-Breaking Bad. Obviously wouldn’t warrant an entire spin off but even with just a few scenes in BCS.
Apr 12, 2022 the pilot episode pretty much covered that. He was a p---- who got pushed around, never took any chances, with a kid who loves breakfast.
Apr 12, 2022 With Tuco you can understand his motivation to hurt and k---... he is a sadist and a misanthrope motivated by greed and the pursuit of power. Todd is none of those things. He just kills people and doesn't have a particular feeling about it one way or another and he doesn't do it to advance himself in the ranks of organized crime. It's a character that can't be understood.
Apr 13, 2022 The only possible thing I can think of that motivates him is he will do things for people he respects like Walter, Uncle Jack, Lydia (who he's a simp for and that's the closest to any sort of real emotion he displays), and even Jesse up to a point. But even then he has no issue with them dying and the death of people doesn't seem to affect him in any real way like you said. At the end when everyone gets murdered his reaction is just like "Mr. White?" like he was asking him what he wanted to order at a restaurant lol
Apr 13, 2022 I couldn't believe my eyes when they tweeted this. They didn't even try to be cryptic about it lol
Apr 14, 2022 Man, what a scene. Every time I watch this I notice more of the little things. Michael McKean was phenomenal as Chuck!
