Dre got old and whack so made a solid album about Compton.

Kanye got old and whack, married the most toxic c---- to society, had multiple mental breakdowns and produced his 3 worst albums consecutively and is likely washed/fell off. He is more cooked than Eminem at this point.

Dre was a pioneer and most of his greatest work was without the technology Kanye had. NWA records and the majority (or at least the best) Deathrow records which are untouchable. Kanye's great, but Dre's his daddy

Both dre and kanye in their later years did not do 100% of the actual beat making but a lot of their talent comes with putting together a complete product, more of a producer in the traditional sense. That's something they've always been good at is putting a bunch of moving parts together.

Dre helped shape & define an entire regions sound, & led the way in evolving the sound - from the high speed sample heavy 80s sound, the early 90s synthy G Funk, the lush piano & horns s--- he was doin in the turn of the millenium, the imax sounding cinematic s--- he was doin further into the 2000s, the live instrumentation s--- he's been doin lately that you see Anderson Paak and Kendrick drawing from. The DJ Quiks and DJ Mustards have their hand in it as well, but i don't think any one producer displayed so much versatility in the L.A. sound as much as Dr. Dre. He's hard to beat.

He's hard to beat unless you're Kanye. How do you even come up with s--- like this

So many people keep making this point... Kanye uses heavy sampling in all of his production doesn't write his own s--- and his best album production wise also had the fewest Kanye beats.
