Also I thought Joker was entertaining but it's basically just a worse version of The King of Comedy lol

Don’t think it was me. I’m pure of spirit. I’d never insult.

TP Season 3 was a masterpiece though

I think we can all appreciate a sassy comeback. This one had me (and the rest of the board) rolling on the floor :emoji_stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: keep the laughs coming, Chad!

I think calling it "the most overhyped movie since Roma" is unfair to both it and Roma, but I do think Americans are a lil goofy on it –– it's a cool/tightly made summer thriller with great shotmaking and good performances, people think it's some transcendent art film bc it has subtitles. It's very good, it's just... not some decade-defining masterpiece.

    my list:

15, Dolemite Is My Name (Brewer)
    14. Dark Waters (Haynes)
    13. Transit (Petzold)
    12. Parasite (Bong)
    11. Ad Astra (Gray)
    10. The Two Popes (Meirelles)
    9. Marriage Story (Baumbach)
    8. The Beach Bum (Korine)
    7. Uncut Gems (Safdie, Safdie)
    6. Ford v. Ferrari (Mangold)
    5. Little Women (Gerwig)
    4. The Irishman (Scorsese)
    3. High Flying Bird (Soderbergh)
    2. Once Upon a Time… In Hollywood (Tarantino)
    1. Portrait of a Lady on Fire (Sciamma)

lmao ohhhhhhhhhh look at this clever fellow!

A lot I haven't seen but my favs from what I have were:

    Irishman
    Parasite
    The Lighthouse
    Uncut Gems
    Midsommar

I liked Knives Out and Once Upon a Time but not as much most people seem to. Knives Out was fun but the "liberal snowflake! alt right troll!" type dialogue was so forced and cringe to me.

LET THE GAMES BEGIN. Nominations are announced in about ten hours. Oscars > Super Bowl

Edit and yes This Is My Name. Maybe the stakes should be - if I win - you revert back to wpg204 (or w/e it once was.) if you win, Maybe I go back to captain awesome ? lol

can't speak for swizz but i also had it on my list... the story is just apocalypse/heart of darkness, pretty straightforward stuff no question, but for me what got me was the production design/imagined world of a near-future space that has been commercialized and is already decaying. it's basically that line pitt has in v/o right as he gets to the moon, about how gutted his dad was to see something with such promise ruined in the most unimaginable way, blown up to huge proportions. i also loved how desolate everything was made to feel. it's not a dystopia, it's just the future.

i love his films. but i'm not one who thinks he can do no wrong. i also thought once upon a time was just OK. it didn't blow me away like many of his previous films. but one thing i think we can all agree on is that the soundtrack is amazing. and that's saying something because his previous films have a lot of awesome songs that fit the scenes perfectly..... but as a whole, this is my favorite soundtrack of his
