I'm bouncing around listening to so many different artists now, I can't even keep up with myself. Planing on using this thread to post whatever song is with me for the day. Lets see how long it goes for...

Lets start with a throwback classic. This whole album is essentially perfect and even though I wouldn't call it my favorite song off the album, I've had this stuck in my head for the better part of this entire week.

I was waaayyyy too late to the Azizi Gibson train. I only discovered him a few months ago after he dropped his excellent Chimera Act album in December last year. This one's off the previous project, 2016's A New Life.

DUCKWRTH's versatility is a thing to behold. Insanely talented singer, rapper, writer, producer, et al. Its a sign of the times that he's gone this long without being noticed as much as he should.

The thrash/metal-trap sound popularised by ---, Zillakami and 6ix9ine and more recently mimicked by the likes of Jasiah, Icy Narco and GNAR never took off to the extent I thought it would. Probably because lot of it comes off forced and corny but Tokyo's Revenge seems to have got the formula down with his 2019 viral smash.

Leaked in advance of his 2018 Beware The Book of Eli mixtape (but ultimately left off the final tracklisting), Worldwide is one of those everything-you-want out of a Ski Mask song. A classic Timbaland interpolation, flows that bounce off the walls like hyperactive kids in a confined space, a series of ridiculous smilies that run over each other and sprinkled with a generous helping of hilarious cartoonish adlibs and you have yourself the formula for another one of those Ski songs that show why despite his lack of a defining project - is still one of the most exciting and talented voices in the game right now. And has been for a while.

XanMan, of Gucci Down fame, attacks the beat like a wide-eyed crackhead lurching at you with a broken beer bottle. His bars have almost no semblance of structure, crashing into each other in a stream of non-sequiturs that would make Ghostface shudder. But godamn if it isnt entertaining. In the space of 2 minutes he's f----- your b---- so many times you've lost count, chewing-with-his-mouth-open disrespectful and made smilies out of references as disparate as D12, Harriet Tubman, R Kelly and Trayvon Martin. The kid might be a genius.

Is 2020 the year crunk makes a comeback? Duke Deuce seems to think so. His excellent Memphis Massacre 2 tape that just dropped this week is an homage to both strands of the tear da club up sub-genre from his Memphis all the way to ATL. This ones the big single but I'd highly recommend checking out the full tape for anyone interested in hearing more. There's a lot more to Deuce than the nostalgia factor.

Doggystyleeee sounds like he came up listening to nothing but Ruthless and Death Row on repeat. If you're looking for that old school G-Funk/West Coast feel, look no further, this is it.

    RECAP Day 13

"everybody know my name ringin bells". DaBaby's made a triumphant return back into my earphones recently. And I'm starting to appreciate KIRK a lot more than I initially did, especially the second half. When you become obsessed with a certain sport you can always tell who's spent hours training and practicing and preparing to get as good as they are. Then there's those who are so fluent it can only be natural, god-given talent. DaBaby is the latter.

    RECAP Day 11

I've said it before - when the immaculate first single for this new album, No Go dropped - and I'll say it again: Nudy's not just a quirky interesting rapper any more, he's legitimately one of the best rappers in the game right now. This is easily one of the better albums released this year and GTA Lyfestyle highlights everything that makes Nudy so good; floating over an instrumental that sound like it was sampled straight out of Pierre's brainwaves

    RECAP

    Day 9:

Who was it on here that introduced me to Co-Cash? Was it @Sea Mauville ? @awhellno ? Whoever it was, you done good homie. I love me some Dolph or some Glock or Moneybagg Yo but none of them capture the bone-chilling, terrifying horror of Memphis rap like Co-Cash does, especially on this 2019 tape - F.A.C.T.S. This is just one of numerous highlights, featuring a beat that crawls inside your skin and drums at your bones. Co-Cash is the gravelly-voiced demon dancing on top of it. Masterful.

Remember Bishop Lamont? Despite all the fuckery that went on at those Aftermath offices, for a brief moment it really seemed like he was next in line for the official Dre protege stamp. A handful of songs intended for the album leaked and one of them was over a blistering Focus.... beat but featured Bishop delivering a weirdly over the top raunchy porno rap which kinda killed the vibe. Anyways, long story short this song has the same instrumental. And even though I'm not yet quite sure if D Smoke has done enough to differentiate himself from Kendrick, him and Snoop definitely give this beat the treatment it deserved.
