May 5, 2020ya but its peak 'tough guy' em. captures that moment in time nicely. stop being wrong about things!!!!!!
Take some Big and some Pac and you mix 'em up in a pot
Sprinkle a little Big L on top, what the f--- do you got?
You got the realest and illest killers tied up in a knot
The juggernauts of this rap s---, like it or not
It's like a fight to the top just to see who'd die for the spot
You put your life in this, nothin' like survivin' a shot
Y'all know what time it is, soon as 50 signs on this dot
s---, what you know about death threats, 'cause I get a lot
Shady Records was eighty seconds away from the towers
Some cowards f----- with the wrong building
They meant to hit ours
Better evacuate all children, it's nuclear showers
There's nothin' spookier
You now about to witness the power
i know u were shirtless in front of the mirror w ur gunit chain lipsynching this in manitoba

As someone that lived in NY, it was somewhat skewed remembering what exactly was happening before G-Unit exploded and dominated Hot 97/Power 105.
Slowly but surely Crunk has a couple of spins, the Black Spades (notorious g---) on my block were blasting TI’s 24s and Dipset was still heavy in rotation.
Radio stations always gave local guys spins, somehow even Fat Joe had a major hit with Lean BackSav Stanfield, Worm, Mikey and 5 others like this. -

I kid you not, everyone I practically knew had a copy of GRODT & or The Massacre. Nobody had a bigger zenith than 50, only place that was different was Harlem where everyone tried to look like Cam & JuelzSav Stanfield, Guma, Ordinary Joel and 4 others like this. -

Speaking of 50 songs...oh boy... I really want to talk about... Detox. Jimmy Iovine. Pop singers... Actually, nevermind. I can't.
Maybe later though
And yeah best debut of OAT is GRODT, The Documentary or Reasonable Doubt. Depends on the day.Zeugma, Ricky, Ordinary Joel and 4 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up) -

DMX - It’s Dark and h--- is Hot.
This is one of the greatest rap debut albums ever. I still give the nod to biggie’s ready to die. But DMX has a legit argument.
This dude was without a doubt the biggest rapper on the planet in 98 and 99. He went on the Hard Knock Life tour with redman and method man and Jay Z obviously headlined. And without a doubt DMX was not only the best performance of the night, it was clear most of the people in that arena were there to see him live. This concert was the 2nd best rap concert I ever saw live. I should see if this show was taped and available online. I’d love to see it again after all these years.
DMX was the first and only rapper to debut at #1 on the billboard top 200 with 2 different albums in the same calendar year (its dark and later that year he released flesh of my flesh). He was the only person to do it until future accomplished the feat in 2017 when he released Future and Hndrxx in back to back weeks.Zeugma, Ordinary Joel, lil uzi vert stan and 3 others like this. -

the history of the genre is that by the mid-2000s new york was at its absolute nadir and the industry had finally caught on to atlanta, and then there was that houston explosion; crunk and snap were massive, and t.i., ross, and jeezy were emerging as the most reliably bankable new stars for majors.
this is, literally, not something that anybody debates, it’s just the objective truth. and you’re using a lloyd banks single no one has played since 2004 as a counter example?Ordinary Joel, Enigma, lil uzi vert stan and 2 others like this.(This ad goes away when signing up)
