Jun 25, 2020 You can't make this s--- up https://www.seattletimes.com/sports...o-keyarena-will-call-it-climate-pledge-arena/
Jun 25, 2020 Basically. He spent money to change the name and look like he’s doing something while he’s complicit for tons of environmental damage and also has enough money to make real differences
Jun 25, 2020 It's a ridiculous name for a stadium and it's an empty gesture. Like why spend the money to buy the rights to name a stadium after the issue when you could just use that money to actually help with the issue? It's just a baffling choice all around.
Jun 25, 2020 He is helping with the issue, it's not just a name lol.. I dunno, seems like a good thing to me.
Jun 25, 2020 f--- Seattle. That NHL expansion team should have been awarded to Houston. I’m still bitter as f--- the league gave it to them. Either way, I don’t like the name. Sounds awkward right now but to be fair, it was just announced. Maybe it’ll grow on me.
Jun 25, 2020 I mean it’s def better than not doing it and I’m happy they’re doing it renewable energy and such, but all it is is reputation laundering for Amazon and bezos. In the grande scheme of things...think about the size of Amazon as a company and its impact around the world vs a single sports venue: https://komonews.com/news/local/despite-green-pledges-amazons-carbon-footprint-grew-15
Jun 26, 2020 Just feels like an empty platitude and performative type of action that doesn't stack up to the damage currently done by Amazon's carbon footprint right now. But then again, it's better than nothing I guess in a vacuum?
