No one wants to hear a 50 year old man make a song about his stepdad like he’s an angsty teenager still.

Nah, it's not that. Rock has been around and popular for much longer. Let's not forget that Dre was one of the pioneers of rap as we know it. Or knew it at least.

So he's kinda gotta be the benchmark. When he's in his 70's, the others you talked about will either be dead or put of the game for decades so not talked about. People on 20 years time could be saying the same thing about rap.

Rap is still a relatively young genre. It’s been around for 40 or so years. It hasn’t quite established it’s older generation yet the way Rock has. It’s getting there though. Artists get old, their fans get old. s--- I’m technically an Old Head in my 30s. It wasn’t that long ago that I was the young kid learning from the older generations. And I still have lots to learn, those people are still around. I think young people can be stubborn about learning Hip Hop history but I also think older people have to do a better job of passing down the knowledge.

There is a common misconception that the older you get get, the worst you get. I don't think it's true at all.

In theory, talking about p---- would be fine as long as it still sounds cool. When it starts getting into the creepy territory of drake talking about 2000s babies wanting to f--- him it sounds weird lmao

I've seen many comments on rappers being 'old' whether its about eminem, snoop, or dre, or jay or whatever.

But when I look at other genres like rock they are still at it like in their 70's.. rappers are called 'old' in their 40's or 50's.

I do however get that subject matter (some) rappers use is not something u expect from middle aged men but not sure if thats the only reason. 50 year olds calling names on twitter is kinda embarrassing ofc but thats not just rappers doing it.
