Gladiator way too high and American Beauty is way too low.

My only grips and yeah The Departed is a little higher than i would place it.

    Very good overall!

I could watch The Departed five days out of the week and enjoy it every time. I think there's something to be said for that.

I'm going to have to watch Birdman again. Something crucial alluded me on the philosophical side. There is a subtly to its dense composition. The technical details were all very well executed and the long takes coupled with the tracking shots were immersive once I managed to stop thinking about the cuts. I feel like "The Unexpected Viture of Ignorance" is an appropriate description for the average viewer in regards to that. Emotive, personal performance all around. The jazz drum score was moody and matched the tempo. Loved the incorporation of surrealism into such a mainstream film. Another life imitates the stage and the stage imitates life film in step with Synecdoche NY and 8 1/2. The director snuck this one into Hollywood.

I do really like Broadcast News though!

I saw Double Indemnity on the big screen, during another film noir cinema screening... I was the youngest one in there, by at least 40 years...but hey.. there were also, some cute chicks in there with some pin up style..sorta like Dita Von Teese.. those are my type of women, ones who are into film noir, and look like pin up girls. Anyway, The theater has been here since like 1939 I think..all they play is vintage films, which is a good thing..they even hold plays and musicals sometimes. Going to a modern cinema is great, but nothing beats a vintage experience in an vintage theater.

Wild Tales also succeeded my expectations.

Each tale is wildy unexpected and funny, pushing the levels of satire and parody away but keeping always a clean and serious face, wich only makes it better.

Going a bit deeper in the analysis we could say Relatos Salvajes is a description of today's society, in some cases criticizing the Latin American System, wich was the case of 'Bombita', my favorite tale.

This film takes us to the pleasure of losing control, something we many times want to do but it also raises the question of what is the actual border between tolerance and Barbarity

I loved it a lot, this is my 2nd or 3rd film of the year, i hope this wins today, but i doubt it 9/10.

On another note, i also saw Leviathan 8.5/10 wich was really great, the screenplay is very strong.

Foxcatcher 7/10 it was good but not great, i dont know if it's just me but Steve Carell's make up helped a lot his acting.

I'll try to see another film today, after that i'll post my top 10. I still have a few films to see but i'm ok with what i've seen

I'm two months late but Better late than never, my Top 15 films of 2014. Going by local release dates, Not U.S release dates

    1) Boyhood
    2) Birdman
    3) Relatos Salvajes (Wild Tales)
    4) The Grand Budapest Hotel
    5) Under The Skin
    6) Deux Jours, Une Nuit (Two Days, One Night)
    7) Norte, The End Of HIstory
    8) Enemy
    9) Inherent Vice
    10) The Double
    11) Calvary
    12) Force Majeure
    13) Interstellar
    14) Whiplash
    15) The Guest

Some important films i have not seen: A most violent year, Selma, the imitation game, Mommy, Wild, Snowpiercer, Mr Turner and im sure im missing a few more. I would add Leviathan but it counts as 2015

I didn't see a lot of films this year, probably around 50, i havent counted but i'm good with this list. I'm surprised to see Interstellar at 13 but i have to face the fact it entertained a lot.

I'd like to point out the fact that 2014 was a good year for comedy, mostly Black or non traditional comedy.

Umm... probably low 30s. Definitely ahead of Argo, but I can't put it before The Best Years of Our Lives.

It must be noted that the Cesar Awards (the French Oscars) gave seven awards to Timbuktu, including Best Picture, and one award to Kristen Stewart. Clearly, the French are a lot better at this awards-giving thing.

I was about to see Bandlands and while i was preparing for it i started to think about Malick's other films, The Tree of Life came to my mind, for some reason i kept thinking about it and suddenly i saw myself preparing everything to see for a 3rd time The Tree of Life, a film i've openly said that it is a good film but it's just not my thing.

Now i openly say i don't know what was i thinking when i said that, The Tree of Life gave me the greatest spiritual journey you can get from a fim, it is so powerful that it could be a life changing experience. To those who still are not into this, try to catch the pace, believe me, you'll be in shock at the end.

I'm not going to go deep into reviewing this film mainly because I'm not a good film critic but also because finding words to describe this must be really hard. This is one of those movies you love a lot and in your head you have it all clear but when it comes to explaining others why you like it nothing comes out.

This is pure emotion to me, Beautiful story told through Visual poetry accompanied by astonishing music.

10/10. Would i include The Tree of Life in my Top 20 of all time, f--- yeah, Top 10 perhaps
