Yeah would not pay money to watch those. However, will probably watch for free on screeners!

Happy Christmas is on my queue. Wanted a second opinion before I check it out. @Twan

Favorite recent Christmas movies? I feel like Elf and Bad Santa are the only recent classics tbh.

My girlfriend and I got drunk and watched Home Alone 2 with her mother. She wants to check out the mob flick that's in it, but it turns out that it's fake. It is however based off of Angels With Dirty Faces (shout out @Bleed ). So I'm going to sneak a black and white Bogart flick in as her choice.

White Reindeer from last year was pretty good. It's a dark, dark comedy that's completely f-----, but it also ends up being an oddly moving portrayal of grief.

@Twan It Felt Like Love is a really impressive debut, I'm a big fan. I felt it could've been a bit more fleshed out but it had some really incredible aspects like the photography which is among the very best I've seen from this year. I'm excited to see what Eliza Hittman has to offer in the future.

Jesus, five different songs in two and a half minute trailer. Plus Will Smith getting punched in that trailer, for some reason, looks really fake. Maybe it's the the sound effect or something.

I think it would make a really interesting double feature with Under The Skin. I agree with you on that it perhaps could have been more fleshed out, particularly with the regards to the characters' interactions. It didn't seem Hittman was as comfortable with the writing as she was with the camera and a lot of the characters' conversations felt like nonprofessionals straining rather than natural interactions between teenagers. With that said, Hittman's depiction of our hyper-sexualized world (from the peer pressure to even the rap music in the background) is incredibly sharp and conveyed almost entirely through visual means with her precise framing and editing. In such a world, it makes sense that our protagonist would so desperately want to have sex without actually understanding it or its implications.

And the Malick trailer does look f---ing incredible!

@Narsh Boycotting Will's movies until he can't afford to support his son's rap fantasies.

Also, Indiewire released the results of their annual critics' poll (Boyhood is tops again). This one is cool because it also includes votes for best performance, screenplay, etc. and because you can see the individual critic ballots.

why is inherent vice not out everywhere yet :emoji_cry:

Edit: finally saw American Beauty and f--- it was so good. Also dead already for the credits was a great choice. Movie had me feelin some type of way tbh, I thought it was just going be a type of satire but it got so tense at times. And man that last act. And of course Spacey is a incredible. Might be my favorite performance of his
