Congratulations Italy, the best team won. Well done.

At the end of the day, we've shown growth over the past few tournaments. To get to the World Cup semis and the Euro final is huge. Now we have a YOUNG and HUNGRY team who have experience. Truly a force to be reckoned with for the next 10 years.

Now that the tournament is over though, @aleeex1972 can you quit being a cocky, conceited, obnoxious pleb? Your attitude in this thread has been worse than the average English fan and it's just not been pleasant to witness.

Sup! I watched highlights of the tournament mainly. Not gonna lie I bought the hype with England but congrats to Italy on winning it all.

Keep your head up king. Be proud, these types of losses may be the making of your nation moving forward.

Southgates team selection baffles me it really does, subbing Rashford and Sancho on for 40 seconds or so just to take a penalty… surely they should have been subbed on for 20 minutes beforehand to warm up properly. Southgate cost us the cup IMO.

England didn’t deserve to win it. Italy were by far the better team on the night.

90% of the finals in football are like that, especially when both teams are at the same level. They don't take many risks cause is the most important game and they play very cautious.

At least the final was better then the last one, France - Portugal lol.

Southgate played everything right up until the final. Look im in no position to question him but when I saw Sancho and Rashford stand up to sub on I had a bad feeling straight away. Nothing to do with their penalty abilities but why the f--- would you put that much pressure on 2 young players that havent even touched the ball or have any feel of the game. Saka as well to take the last one. Nothing to do with the players that missed, I just feel like the line up couldve been better.

Fair play to Italy though, quality side with a great mix of experience and youth.

And f--- the racists, it makes me feel like England didnt even deserve to win because of the fans that turn on their players, but at the same time a know a lot of great fans old and young that have never seen England take home a trophy.

England played the best in the 1st half, Italy switched formation in the 2nd half & England were nowhere to be seen from there, playing defensive which always leaves England vulnerable, shouldn’t have switched up the pace. Kept letting the Italians breeze through taking chance after chance, no wonder they capitalised.

I think the referee let a lot of dirty tackles go unpunished too. Italy up to their usual antics.

But all in all, it’s Southgate’s decisions that cost the game for us. Sancho & Rashford being put on *at least* 5 minutes earlier (should’ve been on in normal time really,) to allow them to get a few touches in, then they’d be comfortable taking arguably the biggest penalty of their lives.

Saka shouldn’t have even been on that pitch, too young & inexperienced, he was completely out of his depth & it showed long before the penalty shootout. Southgate hasn’t been afraid of taking subs off, he even did it in the game last night, so I’m not sure why he couldn’t see that Saka was struggling, Southgate just needs to stop dithering & please for the love of God stop starting Kane, the man is out of breath in the first 30 seconds of every game, there is no pressing, no marking, he just jogs, thinks he’s on a Sunday stroll.

But now the bitterness has mostly worn off, I can appreciate where we got to, what this means to England fans throughout the generations, frustrating how close we were but that’s the pessimistic outlook. We’ll have our heads high for the World Cup next year & hopefully build on that chemistry we’ve created during this tournament.
