Tupac and Biggie are over rated. Big Ls name is heard far less but he'd smoke them without breaking a sweat.

    Just off the top

    1. Tha Carter 4 is better than Tha Carter 5. It's just that the former was released when Wayne was still dominating and people were having "Wayne fatigue" while the latter was released when people were starving for a Wayne album after a long hiatus which caused it to have less harsh criticism.

    2. Eminem's comedy in his prime was sorta cringey and not that funny. Ditto for Ludacris. I know everyone thinks they were hilarious but I always found Sean Price and Devin the Dude to be much more naturally hilarious. And this is coming from someone who enjoyed prime Eminem overall.

    3. Stillmatic by Nas is far superior to Illmatic from a songwriting perspective.

    4. Igor was generic as h--- and if it were made by Kanye, Pharrell, or Andre 3000, the ratings wouldn't have been as high

    5. Fans who dickride Metacritic and Pitchfork when ranking rappers are just as bad as people who dickride sales and hits.

    Hopsin is actually good.

The dude’s made a killing off being a nobody reject producing music in his basement *all by himself*. Has inexcusable, embarrassing moments but is tiers ahead of the people he’s pitted against. The amount of hate & disrespect is unwarranted.

Travis Scott’s last good project was DBR

Drake’s only classic is Take Care

GKMC was Kendrick’s last good album

I think the Hopsin hate started when he started dissing Kendrick and Kanye for clout and he admitted that it was for clout in an interview.

s--- like that rubs people the wrong way, especially since GKMC and Yeezus is bettter than anything he put out.
If he kept the focus on 2Chainz or Riff Raff, I could understand that but he started coming off gimmicky after a while.

But yeah...he's technically a good rapper. Can't take that away from him.

agree with DBR! disagree about Drake (IYRTITL and NWTS have strong cases) and also I don't think thats an unpopular opinion for him.
as for Kendrick I think d--- is leagues better than GKMC or TPAB so also disagree with that.

Always seemed to me like most people think Drake has multiple classics :jordan:
Been awhile since I’ve listened to NWTS so maybe I should revisit it. IYRTITL left me unimpressed as a whole.

I liked d--- better than TPAB but I never gave it a second listen.

Pretty sure the majority of people say Drake has zero or one classics. NWTS is definitely Drakes best album imo, it has one bad track (305 to My City) and every other track are among his best. The sequencing is great and its genuinely some of his best work. as for IYRTITL, it came out at a time in my life I'm super nostalgic for - so I have rose colored glasses towards it but I do think it has a pretty amazing stretch in the front half - though those songs haven't aged as well as I'd hope.

as for d---, I think its the sound Kendrick should aspire for. TPAB has aged terribly and GKMC hasn't aged the best either.

What tracks would you say have aged the worst?

Honestly it may be easier to ask what tracks have aged the best (I'd say Sherane and Good Kid are up there). The whole album feels really dated - it felt fresh at the time when rappers were all hopping on poppy stadium beats - but sometimes it feels just as ancient as Illmatic or Low End Theory. Rap ended up going in a fresher direction and the production just doesn't hold up. Some of the bonus tracks hold up well too (Collect Calls and Black Boy Fly for example)

On the other hand, it could be just that I've overplayed the s--- out of the album. from 2012-2014 it was nearly a daily listen for me.

Yeah I think it was in reference to the overhyped Control verse which I can understand tbh. That verse doesn’t go anywhere near Kendrick’s highs, but definitely picked an odd fight.
