When it came out, I thought that it was okay. I was happy it wasn't as bad as Recovery. But still the flow was boring, the shouting-whispering voice off-putting at times, and some choruses and beats seemed horrendous to me.
After Revival, Kamikaze, and MTBMB I am finally fully satisfied and can appreciate MMLP2 retroactively for other things.
I do undestrand why the album is critically acclaimed (it is actually his only post TES album that is widely popular with critics). Almost every song seems like "something" or is actually about something. The wordplay is easy to catch and not boring. Berserk and Rap God were something fresh. Bad Guy is a clever sequel. If it isn't a great album, it was a great event, for sure.
Really no one loves Wicked Ways? The song is f---ing amazing!

No it was the biggest pile of s--- LP sequel in rap history!
Used the name alone for hype and failed spectacularly!
I just hope he never does a The Eminem Show 2 just for hype.
The most pathetic thing is he had over 50 songs to choose from for MMLP.
His left overs from that album would have been better than the embarrassing sh-- we got on MMLP2.
The album started off so well with Bad Guy brilliant 3rd verse then went total dog s---.
To be honest Em should have fired Paul Rosenberg along time ago as his decisions were laughable!

It was okay but had very little in common, both quality and theme wise with the OG MMLP and I think that's what threw people off.

The original MMLP was special because of its combination of raw anger, satire, and storytelling that happened to have a lot of technical rapping. MMLP2 focuses more on the technical side while watering down a lot of the things that made MMLP so unique in the first place.

That being said, I didn't think it was bad by any means. Just generic with no distinctive qualities that make it really stand out.

Not at all. He f----- it.

It survives the feeling of feeling 'really terrible' like Revival because - his rapping on it is so good, some of his best ever, and there are some great songs. The whole album actually, it's a fun ride.

But it's so lacking in any one or defining sound, it's got A&R Engineered songs (of all the albums... doing it on a MMLP sequel is just unforgiveable) and it's a very insecure album -like Revival - he just tried to give a little bit of everything to everybody. MMLP isn't that, it's one feel, one vibe and it is uncompromising.

"Rap God" felt - genuinely like - 'okay... this is MMLP2'. The topics, his humour, the intesity and the authenticity. If he could have carried across those themes to everything - musically... it could have been special. But he didn't, he f----- it.

So I went back and listened to this album front to back deluxe the other day mainly because of this thread, but I must say that this album has actually aged quite nicely, atleast the good songs have. I really think a name change would have made a difference in impact. But if Em had taken Groundhog Day, Beautiful Pain & Wicked ways and traded out the 3 worst songs on this album it would have made a huge difference. Kinda like with Encore and it’s bonus cuts. But man, Beautiful Pain I forgot how good that song actually is. Tbh one of the best songs on the album. Should have replaced Monster as the pop song of the album.

SURVIVAL IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE'S!!!!!! f--- no would I give it up!! That 2nd verse is vintage Encore sober Slim Shady. He killed SURVIVAL. Modern day of Till I Collapse
