The thing is, Stammer might come at a 12M price tag, but having him and Mathews to build off of is Crosby/Malkin level. Not to add, Stamkos comes with a wealth of experience and is pretty much a perfect professional to captain a young core.

Nylander as a wing/centre is lethal too, because in the case of inevitable injuries, you never have to get a 3C to try to play top 6 minutes. That's partly why I don't want to lose RNH.

Kadri becomes expendable, and can net you a good return to shore up any other deficiencies you guys have.

Leafs are set if they get Stamkos, but f--- the Leafs. I hope he signs in Buffalo.

@WPG I heard some things, wondering if you heard any of the same:

Lucic has made a verbal agreement to sign in Edmonton on July 1.
Demers is close to committing to Edmonton as well.

And the weird one: Apparently Peter Chiarelli and Doug Armstrong were on the phone for about 8 hours yesterday working out a deal revolving around Alex Pietrangelo? The source is Bob Green's nephew (the director of player personnel in Edmonton). But it'll be a blockbuster involving Hall and some other big offensive pieces.

I've heard the same rumour from 3 sources, but I can't fathom why anyone would move Piet. I get that they have Parayko coming up, and then they have the option of keeping Shattenkirk, but it's hard to believe anyone would be willing to move a 1D (and one of the best in the NHL imo).

Why aren't you guys more interested in Lucic? As far as I heard, it's Edmonton, LA, Anaheim and Vancouver who are showing interest.

Is it his age/term/contract? Dude was the perfect Bruin.

Was it just Lucic or the team as a whole? He scored close to his career best last year in LA after a slow start.

I expect he'll be riding left wing next to McDavid, who had Pat Maroon (a career 0.42 point per game player) playing at 0.875 points per game, so Lucic should have a pretty good offensive year. I just hope he doesn't break down 3 years in to a 6 year contract, which is more than likely going to happen with someone given his play style.

Oh well, it's a risk I'm willing to take. I've coveted Lucic since he destroyed the Canucks organization in 2011 (and they still haven't found a direction/identity since that run lmao).

RNH is a 60 point (in 82 games) centre who has an elite 2 way presence, similar to Toews without the intensity/leadership. His possession stats are very good. We're a much better team with him on the ice than without him.

But more importantly, he gives us a 3rd centre in the top 6, which is what Todd McClellan likes to work with in case a top 6 centre goes down. He's invaluable here. I would definitely move him, but it would have to be for a guy that helps our d core immensely.

With the option of signing Demers, trading away RNH for one of Brodin or Dumba is a poor decision from our perspective.

But I expect by opening night, 2 of RNH, Eberle and Hall will be gone. I think the Oilers finally commit this summer and turn it around after a decade long free fall. Being an Oilers fan is the absolute worst, I haven't seen my team play in the playoffs since June of 2006. Take that in, YouTube was this cool new video streaming website the last time the Oilers played in the playoffs. Smh.

Bro we had the worst front office in professional sports for a decade, I know how you feel.

Canucks just need to commit to something. I heard they're in contact with Eriksson, Lucic, Helm, Vanek, Boedker, Ladd, Brouwer, AND Fiddler. Adding overpaid free agents to make the playoffs isn't a good long term plan imo.

On the bright side though, you guys got a huge piece in Juolevi to add to Horvat and Virtanen. I have to give Benning credit for not just drafting Tkachuk because he fell to him (you guys have Virtanen already), and adding a cornerstone D piece instead.

Yo man, like 8 years ago I sincerely thought that our young "core" of Cogliano, Gagner, and Nilsson were going to take us to the cup.

Oilers been trash lol, but it's my only home town team so I'm loyal. I spend a month out of each summer in Seattle, so the Seahawks get similar affection, but there's nothing like living in a market and cheering for a home town team.
