Kamikaze was needed. MTBMB was appreciated.

Kamikaze is a good project. But MTBMB feels more complete and is miles ahead sonically.
On MTBMB, Em had excellent rap fts, made love songs, rapped about his life and his opinions of s--- happening in this world, went lyrical miracle on a few songs etc. He adopted the new sounds of hip hop while still throwing out some old sounds that we cherish. He rapped along with the legends, top-tier lyricists while also giving some shine and embracing some younget talent of the game which doesn't rap like him. He gave us a variety of flows and his vocals were near perfect.
All of this on a single album that had 17 tracks.
Kamikaze: 7/10
MTBMB: 8.7/10.Evad, Alpha, lil uzi vert stan and 4 others like this. -

Kamikaze is more consistent and has Mike Will production. Mtbmb is great but just has more lows. Although I feel like the version of MTBMB Em wanted to put out wouldve been much bettergdot, JulnHT, Michael Myers and 3 others like this. -

Kami definitely -- the production, him finally adressing a bunch of s--- like his public reception, him selling out, his place in hip hop, etc., & he finally sounded good again as a rapper.
MTBMB wasn't bad but not as memorable musically & felt like a bit of a drag, kinda unremarkable in comparison.gdot, n9ne, Marshall III and 1 other person like this. -

Kamikaze is superior, all things considered.
Taking into account context of release, subject matter, lyricism, delivery, instrumentation, and cohesion, it's the best album he's released since Relapse.
On a technical level the two albums might be equally good, but Kamikaze blew us all away in a way that nobody thought possible, and that does count toward its score. My life was better around the time of the Kamikaze release BECAUSE I was listening to Kamikaze all the time. I can't exactly say that for MTBMB. Part of that is because we already knew Em was on a hot streak at that point, so maybe it's not fair, but to me, context matters. Kamikaze is my choice. -
