Aug 1, 2020 This is a headache, by far the most hair-splitting decision I've had to click on today... But I'm going with Makaveli, it's impossible to ignore that impassioned performance on that 1st and last verse, with that glorious sample blaring in the background.
Aug 1, 2020 Think I misunderstood the rules, I thought we were voting for the best use of the sample so I went with MATW, but if it’s just which of the songs we like best I wish I’d voted Warning
Aug 1, 2020 Also the reason I gotta go with MATW in this instance. Warning is a great exhibition of Big's brilliant storytelling, but Pac's song is just undeniable imo. Gonna have to spin that album again coz it's been a minute
Aug 1, 2020 I don't want to hijack this thread into a 2Pac appreciation circle, but man I love that d--- album. It's like a love letter to rap, plus it had some of his most meditative material. It was the last of him before his chaotic adventure in Death Row, where his own beliefs in those bombastic personalties he conjured became self-fulfilling prophecies. That era was still great tho, but MATW my favorite of his work.
Aug 1, 2020 its about the best song as a whole including the rapping. I can count your vote as the warning if you'd like.
Aug 1, 2020 It was him at his most vulnerable and introspective as you said. He never really tapped into that side post-MATW unfortunately as he substituted in the paranoia and excess instead.
Aug 2, 2020 literally 49 - 51 for me. Pac one is f---ing great but I really prefer Biggie's rapping. His storytelling >
Aug 2, 2020 to me both of these are standout tracks on each album. but i think warning is put together a LITTLE bit better. very tough decision though
