Dec 1, 2014 "When I was younger I was caught into trying to make a radio song," Kendrick said. "[I was] chasing something that was only for the moment, you're not chasing longevity so the more and more I was focusing on artists that embody something bigger... I actually started developing myself to a whole another level than I could possibly imagine." Kendrick Lamar also recalled the moment he knew he wanted to be a rapper. "First time I heard my voice played back [it was like] I got to be doing this," he said. "This is like crack, it's like crack."
Dec 1, 2014 Not really. theres a difference between a pop song and a song that appeals to the pop audiences. "i" is 100% Soul & funk influenced. Eminem's hip hop songs are pop influenced
Dec 1, 2014 Clever Koolo I see what you doing I f---ing hated 'I' at the start. That voice he has really put me off but it grew really quickly on me.
Dec 1, 2014 yeah now I think "i" is f---ing genius, at first I was "wtf" but when you analyze the track that s--- is #black excellence It's a piece of electronically sequenced neo-funk & soul elements with rapping on top of it.
Dec 1, 2014 well im a new kendrick fan (what is his nick name? k dot?) so songs like i and other mainstream ones is all i heard..and i like it now you will quote "mainstream" on my post and try to connect it to radio wont you
Dec 1, 2014 you heard section 80? Kendrick said his new album will be raw like s80... he said the album is a return to the roots of black music and it will be soul, funky and jazzy. Confirmed features: Ron Isley from the Isley Brothers George Clinton Pete Rock Possible Features: Prince (they worked on a lot of tracks) Slick Rick
Dec 1, 2014 thanks for the info only album i heard was maad city which i loved..i am just gonna download all of his albums
Dec 1, 2014 I'm quite curious how 'mainstream' his next album will be. No one hates Kendrick. White people like him. Black people like him. He's a combination between Wayne and Eminem. Kendrick is essential the biggest rapper in music right now, and Aftermath likes money. Hoping he still pushes the genre. Trust in K Dot.
Dec 1, 2014 he only got 2 albums, the others are mixtapes and you can tell that he was still trying to find himself on these projects. But most people consider section 80 to be as good as good kid maad city (its very different though because s80 is very jazzy)
Dec 1, 2014 Overly Dedicated and Kendrick Lamar EP are dope, look for collections of unreleased/random songs too edit: other than S80 of course, 2nd best project ez
Dec 1, 2014 he just said in a new interview that this album will be raw, rawer than GKMC. Its supposed to be Soul & Funky... he even worked with Prince, George Clinton & Ron Isley btw heres a review of rosenberg... he heard 4 songs:
