There used to be a difference, but I don't understand why people discount a project full of 100% original beats and lyrics from an "album" conversation because it was released as a "mixtape." Like I don't see any tangible difference between Rich g--- and Watch the Throne in terms of medium beyond the fact that RG was released for free. I mean What A Time To Be Alive is considered a "commercial mixtape" and that was mentioned in OP. I'm just saying the distinction is arbitrary unless we're talking about, like, Da Drought 3 or We Got it For Cheap. Or something that's a compilation of leaks and loosies like those Drake comp albums.

There’s definitely a distinction to be made between partnerships that came together naturally (Ye/Jay, m---/Red) and those that came together out of obligation or expectation (Future/Drake, Uzi/Gucci), and one song is usually enough to tell which is which

why do people still make this distinction lol. It's an album. There's virtually no difference between an album and a mixtape aside from what an artist feels like calling them....and it's been that way for a decade at this point.

Chance's dumbass refrained from calling acid rap and even coloring book his debut album and ended up with a steaming pile of s--- for his """debut album""" :laff:

The line is certainly blurred now but there was a difference. Everything gets labeled as “project” now so I agree with you there.

Yeah, they call them mixtapes/playlists to have an excuse if they are not well-received.

probably more tarnishing to him than he realizes

Black out it different in my eyes because a)it was a pre wtt era b)m--- and red have always felt like more of a group than just two rappers collabing on an album

ksg is immensely overrated and though there’s okay songs it’s not amazing and we certainly could’ve lived without it
