SSLP - sounded great then, is still great now. Has aged well.
MMLP - still great, but too reliant on 1999/2000 pop culture. Still a very strong album, but many of its references feel dated and stale.
TES - amazing at the time, overall holds up pretty well. Not perfect but I still love it.
Encore - terrible in 2004, not sure how it holds up now because I don't want to listen to it
    Relapse - same as Encore
Recovery - sounded pretty great initially, but is quite bad now
MMLP2 - sounded solid initially, but its mediocrity became clear pretty quickly

I really don't understand the idea of "aging"

Albums are supposed to be a reflection of the time period they're made.

If they sound great then, they'll sound great now, as long as you were a fan then. They might not sound great compared to today's trends, but they weren't made for today.

I mean, a perfect example is Illmatic. Illmatic hasn't "aged" well in comparison to modern music. However, it provides a nostalgic experience for most listeners who revisit the album. Same could be said for Eminem's first 3 albums.

I'm not the same as I was when I listened to Eminem's first 3 albums, but there's no doubt that they are as good as people say they are.

The only thing I can think of, is albums in the short term, like @Swizz said. When we first heard MMLP2, or Recovery, we thought they were better, at first, than what they really were. So, after more listens, it got worse.

Classic albums, to me, don't lose that appeal. I feel his first 3 albums are time-less.

Not to get into an ICP discussion since I'm sure none of you care, but I'd actually say they're more relevant now than they were in 2000. Back then they basically just got attention when Eminem dissed them. Nowadays they have an annual festival that always has some big name artists, they made headlines all over when their fans were labeled g--- members by the FBI, they were made fun of on SNL a few times and they have their own TV show.

As far as how Em's albums aged, I don't really see it the same way most of you do. The only way I get sick of an old album that I used to like is if I overplay it way too much or flat out just get sick of that artist/band, but it's almost always from overplaying it. Em's earlier albums still sound the same to me as they always did although I'm careful not to overplay them much cuz I know that's how I'll lose interest and never want to go back. I have a weird strategy when it comes to listening to older albums that I like, it's almost like I've ruined some music I used to love so now I purposefully avoid listening to stuff for a long time so I can eventually go back and love it again.

Wasnt Yellow Wolf talking a bunch of s--- about his record deal like a year ago? Guess he realized he literally needs this deal to be able to feed his kids because he'll never be able to support himself as an independent artist, due to not being very talented or smart
