The first couple seasons are especially horrible—it definitely gets better but as someone who likes the Office who's watched a decent number of Parks & Rec episodes thinking I must be missing something, it's not worth it in any capacity. It just sucks lol.Mraczewsky, Ordinary Joel, Rodamon and 1 other person like this. -

Yeah Ron and Andy were great characters. Aziz Ansari had his moments but sometimes was a little bit too much. Jean-Ralphio cameos were pretty funny. Larry or whatever his name was being the biggest loser in the world but married to a model with the perfect family was good for a chucklelil uzi vert stan, Ordinary Joel and SHUDEYE like this. -

Yeah, I found the US one probably better for more laughs consistently but the UK one I almost found closer to a real documentary instead of a mockumentary as in it seemed more real. Just because I didn't laugh as much at the UK one doesn't mean it was worse, it was infinitely more clever and it genuinely made you feel actually uncomfortable. That's also because Ricky is a f---ing genius, the things that make Ricky so good with his portrayals aren't the big things. It's the hundreds of little things he incorporates, like one quick example is with Brent and his constant straightening of the tie or whatever it is he does after a joke etc. basically as a nervous twitch. Multiple little things like that are what creates such a realness with his characters. We have a comedian here in Aus, Chris Lilley, who is similar. He's most famous for Ja'mie, if you're from America you may have heard of it/him, I know people in America obsessed with it.Ordinary Joel, Disorderly Progress and Ricky like this. -

Yeah cause there's two writers lol.
Big network comedies have like teams of writers.
Quality over quantity. 54 eps is still a lot, plus the material is WAYYYYYY deeper, in terms of its execution - the realism, the acting, everything.DKC, Ordinary Joel and hargydon like this. -

I thought the second season was pretty bad too but seasons 3-4 are def way better. I mean saying it's outright terrible is obviously hyperbole, but it just never gets above like "this is fine background TV" to me.
Agree with you overall about the warmhearted michael shur shows, but I will say that Brooklyn 99 is leagues better than Parks & Rec. I thought it was going to be horrible—I watched the first episode when it autoplayed after something on Hulu and almost stopped then and there cuz it was awful but I'll give most sitcoms the first season for a chance to find their footing. Seasons 2-5 are genuinely funny and well written. 6-7 have their moments but Chelsea Peretti left and it's definitely winding way down so I hope they end it after this next one.Ordinary Joel, Worm and lil uzi vert stan like this. -

ehhh. so. i feel like, it finds a groove once it loses the michael scott vibes of the first season and adam scott shows up. but u might be right its overrated, and kind of indicative of alot these cheeky wacky warmhearted michael schur productions. office is classic, P&R is not, but i think its goooooooooooood mostly. just not deserving of the cult fans it has. perfectly nice obama era show.
like i said, i do tire of the cheeky predecessors it has. havent gotten into brooklyn 99 or whatever.Ordinary Joel, Worm and DKC like this. -
